Another song from me

I feel a bit bad about making a whole new topic to show off my stuff while my other thread is still going strong, but the title was three songs...didn't want to have to edit it. And now it's turned into a flamewar about whether what I write are lyrics are not. Jeez.

Mer-Thing
-

He was born crawling out of a city streetlight
And slithered right into a circus cage from the cold
In the hotel room as these songs often go
The mer-thing met someone smitten long ago

He sang love songs to you
Whiled away the afternoon
In a language that sounded like dogs barking
Where relatives were watching from a one-way window

Brushed the scales from the boy's mermaid tail
Wished he didn't know where he wanted him to go

So then the boy slammed heroin into his webbing
So then the other took a hammer to his shoulder
To tattoo across the boy's devil wings
All the strange and simple things they were afraid for
"After today, you won't have to love me anymore."

When he woke up next to him on Monday morning
He drank a single glass to remind him of the water
And then he kicked his boyfriend out the door[/i]

I like it. Short story witha nitched reflection of Two-Headed Boy from Neutral Milk Hotel. I can already make out the music in my head. Nice work.
