i see your face in stop lights

this time i'm not gonna tell you what it's about, i think it's pretty obvious. i'd like to know what images or emotions it evokes in you and how you think it rolls.

i see your face in stop lights

verse 1:
this car is more home to me
than any place i'll ever be
i've run out of reasons to run

and i'm sure the world's forgotten me
in it's ignorance and ecstasy
my smile eats a loaded gun

pre-chorus:
i'm crucified by that look in your eyes
and i know this is not how it should be
i'm hypnotized while you treat me like a child
and i know... nothing at all

chorus:
and so i'm... leaving tonight
i'm gonna just get in my car and drive
until i... can't remember where i came from
i hope the next town's not the same one
as before

verse 2:
walk another mile with me
until we see something we've never seen
i'm learning something new every day

lay your plans for what i will become
a carbon copy of everyone
whose hollow smiles keep their demons at bay

pre-chorus

chorus

bridge:
i remember wanting to be anywhere
packing only love and hope to get me there
driving for necessity, reservedly to the place i wanna be

working at a goal i never gave a name
waking on a day that always felt the same
driving for necessity, frantically at heights i'll never reach

chorus

outro:
this car cannot get me far enough away from you
this car cannot get me far enough away from you

I like this...I can totally see a band like Three Days Grace or something singing it. it's better than most of their lyrics too, but it has the same slightly bitter, aggressive tone.

aside from trying to figure out how the title fits in with the song (which drew me into this piece), i like some of the imagery this presents ... it also depicts someone running from the person who holds their broken heart in some way or other and looking for some place or something better just to 'forget' ... this also appears to be sprinkled with anger ... a fairly good write ...

i'm glad it got some good responses. this was my band's pop-rockiest song. sounded very much in the vein of bands like falloutboy and the academy is or taking back sunday.

it's definitely about bitterness. the entirety of it is about running away from a town you hate and the girl who kept you pinned there.

the title is a reference to driving away from everything, but not being able to get it out of your head. "i see your face in stop lights"
