Square Hats and Black Robes

Yeah, so I'm a Senior, and as you can probably guess, this shall be yet another graduation song. It's fairly slow in pace most of the way through, but rises at the end. I tried to make it more applicable than just High School graduation and more general ascensions in life, but you be the judge.

"Graduate"

Could we have another night?
A request that everyone has tried
Yet somehow, at the same time
We're starting to see light
When will our lives begin?
When will our lives begin?

Once waking days in empty weeks
Now warm tears rolling down cold cheeks
If a memory is lost
An angel will pay the cost
Must our lives begin?
Why must our lives begin?

Eternity's too short to be
A path hastily tread
A life, it seems, is just a beam
Of sunlight passing overhead
We grasp for anything
We don't know anything...

But then the sunlight hits a face
Slowly, focus slides into place
Goodbye, those who're left behind
Welcome to a new life

It's another graduation
Don't fret...yet
Don't regret, you don't get
To forget
It's another graduation

It doesn't matter at what point your life is
You will never remain the same
By the end of your stay

See the shining star, so warm and bright
Piercing through the moon and night
Long before this, it had died
But it does not cease to shine

Watching reaper overhead
He wants us dead, so
There it is
I said it
Life comes and goes so quick
But only if you let it

(Chorus)

When the time comes for goodbye
Will you smile on your life?
A never-ending conquest
Constantly fueled by strife
When rewound to where you found
The most light in life
It is clear anything can be
Perfect in the right light

cool poem but leave the reaper out. Throws the whole meaning out.
I picture kids at a graduation at school with a ceromony and all and all of a sudden theres a reaper

Otherwise vey good!!

Yeah, I put that in the Lit Journal last year, made few changes since then. I meant for the reaper to symbolize time running out, but I guess the implication of death was a little unnecessary. And yes, I love Final Fantasy like I love writing. 7's my fav for story, but Squall's my favorite for character. He has the depth of any FFX character and an excellent background-good character development and all. FF rules! See you in school Kristen!
