Dreamland Troubadour - comments appreciated
This is the first time I've written lyrics for a specific melody, rather than the words coming first with no particular tune in mind.

Way after midnight
When I am sleeping
I’ll always find him there
Lit by the moonlight
That’s shining on his hair
Soft chords from his guitar
Drift through the starry air
And he takes me through secret doors
He’s my dreamland troubadour
Way after midnight
When I am dreaming
He’ll always sing for me
Tempo of twilight
Playing slow in minor key
His smile always lets me know
His songs are only for me

He is my reason for living
He is my dreamland troubadour
And when the cares of the day won’t go away
I know who I am waiting for
After midnight
I know I’ll find him
Humming a melody
Eyes bright as firelight
Gazing at me tenderly
He brings me a gift of love
Wrapped up in rhapsody
And I’m not alone any more
With my dreamland troubadour
Way after midnight
I‘ll find him singing
A soulful serenade
Sprinkling of starlight
Brightens our forever glade
His eyes are telling me
Our dream will never fade

He is my dreamland troubadour
When he’s around me I know that I’ve found
A love I’ve never known before
Way after midnight
When I am dreaming
I know that I’m secure
Within his love-light
No daylight can obscure
He is my shining knight
He makes my heart sing
Dreamweaver of delight
But then come the morning
I wake up aching for
My dreamland troubadour
