"Open your mind"
I've read that these days record companies are looking for
singer songwriters, people that perform and write their own material
instead of hiring a pro song-writer that doesn't sing or perform.
To cut costs.
Learn to sing and write. By the time you guys are 20 yrs old
you'll be pro's.
Best wishes...Mouse.

Sorry mys, but I haven't published anything... yet! I got some recorded mp3's on my com, but they are not that good.. first take and low quality. We were just recording for some producers practise, so we didn't spend that much time in the studio.
At the time I only play for my friends. They keep telling I should see some producers about my material, but I guess I'm too lazy. Also, I don't think I wanna be a big music star or anything, I just love to play as a hobby.
But I feel I get better every year, so it's all about practise and patience. I found that a shot of whiskey, yes you heard me, really clears my throat and gives me a stronger voice. Don't experience too much though

Well, I can't try your whole whiskey deal for 5 years, but I'll have to keep that in mind.....
I'm 16 and writing my own songs. I for the longest time wanted to get my stuff out there but people wern't helping me out. Things were falling apart. I almost gave up, but then I dicided to buy my own recording stuff and to put it in my bed room. Liek I've told you before..all I have to do is get it recorded and then I know people who can take it from there. Those same people that were going to help me may now back out because of some of the things I sing about. I'm going to make a cd. Its going to work! its the same deal with you. If you want a cd. Then make it happen! Save every penny to buy the stuff needed and then sing! Good luck my freind!

It's total madness you guys have to be 21 to buy and drink alcohol... we have to be 16 to buy, but can drink at any age. So different.
I got some plans for recording some of my tunes in a few weeks (know a guy who knows a guy who has a studio). If it turns ou well I'll maybe give it to a another friend of mine who works as a secretary on a record company.
Hey, maybe I will get lucky, but I really don't worry about it. My music to me will still be the same and that's the most important thing if you ask me. But I surely hope to see you on the screen some day. So good luck to you also my friend

I always write songs with the intention of singing them. (Though, I only write songs in the first place because I think of nice tunes that need more than just "ahh-ahh-ahh!" so I have to think of some lyrics to go with it!)
I just do it for fun though. It's a hobby that seems to take over my entire life. An obsession maybe?! No commercial releases for me (YET!) - and I have no expensive equipment. I have a sequencer, a mic and a non-soundproof bedroom (I am a student. Expenses are my enemies. ^_~)

I'm not so sure record companies want singer/songwriters. I don't think they care. They just want a face and voice that people will buy.
How much of the American Idol competition involved the contestants performing an original song? None.
Anyway, I've been writing songs for the past 20 years as an emotional outlet and hobby. Never tried to sell one. I love to sing and record them, but a singer I am not.
In all that time, though, I've only got 7 songs complete (lyrics, arrangement, recorded, etc.) I've got many bits and pieces floating around. The mood seems to strike me every few years and I finish another one.
I'll never make it in the business like that, huh?
