Not an Angel

Not an Angel

His name was Angel
But he would not fly
Kept his wings close to his chest
Content to be like all the rest
Maybe his aspirations weren’t so high
Maybe his courage didn’t pass the test
Perhaps he didn’t know that he only had to try

He was no angel
He was just a man
Didn’t see beyond today
Couldn’t find another way
Perhaps his reservations wrecked his plan
Perhaps misguided guilt stood in his way
And so he found himself right back where he began

Chorus

He’s just a man
He’s not an angel
He’s a man
Too cruel to call him “also ran”
Too harsh to say he threw it all away
Too late to show him there’s another way
He could never fly with feet of clay
He’s not an angel
He’s a man
He’s just a man….

His name is Angel
But he has no wings
No point saying it’s not so
No use denying what I know
But when he speaks to me how my soul sings
He knows I’d follow anywhere he’d go
If only he could see that love is never about strings

He is my demon
And he is my curse
He’s turned my daylight into night
He’s changed to wrong what felt so right
He is my guardian angel in reverse
He’s left me with no cause to fight
There are no miracles that will move the universe

He’s just a man etc

Pretty okay, but Fade to Blue was better imo,

Just watch out cuz Universe kinda brakes the way I was singing it. It's got to do with rhyme syllables, universe rhymes with reverse, Re-Verse U-Ni-Verse
see what I mean? That extra syllable "breaks" the last line from the rest.
Buts its a nice way to portray it, but try to restrain from using cliche lines like "he turned to wrong what felt so right"
Something with originality there would have boosted the song a bit

But good work!

Thanks Mystery!

How about

"he's darkened dreams that once shone bright"?
