Thread: Porch light Fireflies

Every shade of red is golden
Every time a heart beats, hardens
You sat on the porch and asked me a question
Just who I thought I am
You asked me once again

I said I don’t know and you pushed even further
You wouldn’t let go and I couldn’t be bothered
You finally stood up and looked in my left eye
Your hands were warm and face so bright
You asked me again and I replied

We ask the questions to the answers we’re seeking
We all want to be who we were but we can’t be
Just leave me alone and let me be happy
I just want to be young, with you here beside me
I won’t live a lie, so why keep trying

You nodded your head, smiled and said
Cause that’s what love means.
I stopped and I looked and that’s when I realized.
Just who I really am.
I reached out and grabbed your hand.
