Heaven's Park

V1
A shelter was as good a place as any
To find a furry friend to call my own
Lying quietly, his brown eyes fixed on me
Made him the only choice to share my home
V2
At five weeks old, he weighed just fourteen ounces
Named him Goliath so he'd have some hope
Chicks came from miles around to see the furry mound
I tried to think of ways to stunt his growth
CHORUS
I hope there is a place in Heaven's Park
Where dog's can run and play and sniff and bark
Through endless winding trails, of wiggling puppy tails
I pray we meet there when my life goes dark
V3
He never got the hang of catching frisbees
Though I'll admit my throwing skills were lame
Good at fetching sticks and doing simple tricks
Without reward, that dog just loved to play
V4
We hiked a million miles or so together
Not once did his enthusiasm fade
He often talked to me, his eyes contained the key
He couldn't bark, but he'd communicate
CHORUS repeat
BRIDGE
Sixteen years of pleasure
He wouldn't yield to getting old
I pray he's out there waiting
Though dogs aren't known to have a soul
But if Goliath ain't allowed in Heaven
I'm not so sure I really want to go
FINAL CHORUS
I hope there is a place in Heaven's Park
Where dog's can run and play and sniff and bark
With endless winding trails, of wiggling puppy tails
God please provide a place in Heaven's Park
