    Don't lead 'em so much

    These old empty trenches
    Filled with nothing
    Filled with nothing but blood

    These old empty trenches
    Filled with nothing
    Filled with nothing but mud

    We fight for glory
    We fight through pain
    Never ending
This fight through the rain X2
    ... We fight through rain

    These old empty trenches
    Home away from away
    Home of nothing but blood

    These old empty trenches
    Home away from home
    Home of nothing but mud

    We fight the hunger
    We fight the strain
    Never ending
This fight through the rain X2
    ... We fight the rain

    Digging digging
    My friends out of trenches
    Caved in ceilings
    No extra rations

    Wide eyed men
    Quickly become boys
    Bullets fly
    Best friends die yeah

    This is war
No time for war yeah yeah yeah

    This is war
    It’s time for war yeah

    This is war
No time for war yeah yeah yeah

    This is war
    It’s time for war yeah

    These old empty trenches
    No one’s here no more
No one’s here to spill blood

    These old empty trenches
    No one’s here no more
No one to die in the mud
    ... Die in the mud

I like this very much MeeQ.. It has a nice feel to it and tone... I feel it sings well and would play well too. I hear music as I read it ... I've taken on this subject before but I like yours so much more here...... Mine was way too poetic... Your piece here captures the strength and sadness of it all... at least it does that for me....... Very nice done here....

    Fondly,
    Miriam

Meeq, I'm imagining this in your voice -- over the kind of music you posted. Am I right? I like it in that context and the repetition works. I'm a little slow -- I was thinking WTF does X2 mean? It finally dawned on me. For some reason, I really liked the title, even I don't see how it relates. Again, maybe I'm being slow.

    Good job.

Yeah, I was thinking WWI. That makes, sense, considering.

I will have a recording done soon, i hope it holds up to your imagination's standards.

WW1. correct, but it has a double meaning.

This is a different type of read for me with the use of a lot of refrain. Like other commenters above I think it would probably work out well with music and I could definitely hear some disgruntled military person saying something like this.
