    I Watch The Rain

    I Watch The Rain
    (Female vocal)
    V
We walked a ledge of love and lust
Two shades behind the line of trust
And he was mine, but not enough
To stay the course when times got rough
And times got rough, as times will do
Which shouldn't mean, "Too bad, you lose"
Please tell me why, why is it so
The first to cry's the last to know
    CH
    I pull the curtains wide
    Gaze through the window pane
And all the pain I feel
    Is gently washed away...
    As I watch the rain
    So I watch the rain
    V
It's strange how quickly love takes root
    And dreams expand, horizons too
Then in an instant plans can change
I looked inside to place the blame
And everyone could see but me
He had the gift of doublespeak
But half-baked words can't hide this truth
Her perfumed scent in our bedroom

    I pull the curtains wide
    Gaze through the window pane
And all the pain I feel
    Is gently washed away...
    As I watch the rain
    So I watch the rain

    BRIDGE
An arc of color rises through the mist
Like bended rays of hope, I hope there does exist
A tranquil place out there beyond the tears
    Where bright tomorrows somehow reappear

And all the pain I feel
    Is gently washed away...
    As I watch the rain
    So I watch the rain
    The rainbow through the rain

    it's always hard to critique a song...but I liked this...I am a little confused though...will this be a male/female duet ?
On the one hand Nature urges us on to this desire by associating it with the noblest, most useful, and pleasant of all her acts; and on the other hand she allows us to condemn it and flee from it as from a shameless and immodest deed, to blush at it and recommend abstinence. Are we not indeed brutes to call the very act that created us, brutish?

No, it's for a solo female. Says so right under the title!

    Thanks for having a look.

I liked this. The only thing I could think was "I hope there does exist" might sound better as "I hope there exists" because the s at the end of the word doesn't take the rhyme away from mist and it sounds less awkward.

ahhh...I see now...this had me a bit confused...but she caught the little bugger cheating eh?

I loved the song, but I think the chorus could be more. It just doesn't seem as profound as the rest of the song.
Full many a glorious morning have I seen
Flatter the mountain tops with sovereign eye,
Kissing with golden face the meadows green,
    Gilding pale streams with heavenly alchemy;

Sorry folk, just wrote a lengthy response to each of you, only to have it say my "Token has expired!" Anyhow, I appreciate your comments.

Ahsville, just saying 'exists' is tough if you pronounce it properly. Seems like singing would really be a booger!

James, I thought a simple chorus would work nicely against the story. Just picture it being belted out by Celine!

Terrib, glad we got to the same page!

    Thanks to you all.
