Refugium Peccatorum -
In a dark age, far beyond the pages of your books
There was a rotten time, where evil took afoot
The church gave us nothing, but heretics and sin
Convictions to heaven and emptiness within
[And out of the cold and dusty marsh,
Came a man to take away the sour lies]
After the age of the son
And the time of holy
When the sinners began to run
And the priests became God
Along came one Idol
To sit above the rest
[He told man he was free, and let us discover the rest]
Refuge for Sinners,
In a single thing he said
When he made us realize that we where dead
All it took was just one glance
To see the future we had lost
I-SO-LATE,
[For knowledge is power
Take what is yours
For you are entitled to the sweat of your brow]
DE-CON-SE-CRATE
[For if your give them just one chance
They’ll damn you to hell
They will rob you of your consciousness and set your role well]
And the people did revolt
For they knew they had been wronged
Good and Evil, morals they where taught
That had never had a place and had always been for naught
They took weapons and took to the streets
To kill the true heretics
[Priests and Popes], men with gold around their neck
They took their hallowed churches and turned them into bread
[And so the Age of Enlightenment came to pass
And no one saw that it would last
They left their trials inside tomes now forever lost
For the church burned down the libraries, the truth they covered fast]
