Iran invasion?
I kind of guessed that this was going to happen, and now I am pretty darn sure that it is.
Report: U.S. 'preparing the battlefield' in Iran - CNN.com
Everyone I've spoken to on the subject thinks that the invasion of Iran will lead to a resurgance of the draft. What do you think?

I certainly hope that this doesn't lead to WWIII, but it most probably will end up being a disaster, and unfortunately many of America's youth with forcibly be involved. This sucks. Yeah Malone, Canada is sounding better and better.

I'll go to prison first, but I don't think that they will draft anybody. That's it, I'm going back to school.

I'm not so sure AA. With fewer people joining the military and fighting multiple wars at once, they may need to bring back the draft. Crappy as that sounds.

Sorry, I don't see it realistically happening with the support of congress or the senate. I'm not saying that there aren't some cooky conservatives that would love it. I'm saying that bringing back the draft is an unsellable idea and it would mean political suicide for public officials who supported it - even conservative public officials. Nobody wants to think that their family members and friends can just be swooped away so easily. John Mccain is going to lose the election either way, but things will be a hell of a lot easier for Obama if Mccain supports the draft.

They tried to reinstate the draft a while back but a lot of democrats got elected in both the senate and congress. But you might be right, it would be suicide to reinstate the draft for any candidate that supported it. But who knows.

Well I'm in the crystal clear. I finished up my inactive reserves long ago. But they'll come head hunting for you younger guys.

It's perfect. Jump off another war so we'll need a "wartime president"

If this actually goes to war and they don't have enough people to fight there and all the other places we're currently occupying, politics won't matter when it comes to the draft. They'll have to do it. I don't know if it will come to that or not, but if they need to, they'll do it. Historically we do it a lot since we've only been a country for a little over two hundred years.

Well this is definitely an argument that I'd hate to lose.

Wouldn't you just have to "tell" to get disqualified? I plan on pulling a Pauly Shore and make out with another guy in the recruiting office.

Well, I'm not 18 yet, so I don't think I have much to worry about, unless this war thing persists. As for the rest of you guys...Canada certainly seems like a nice option.
