Misunderstood

I recently finished a book on Malcolm X-his autobiography-and realized how little I understood about him. I was amazed at how I had let people dehumanize a man, who I think, was perhaps one of the greatest men of the 20th century. Reading that book gave me nothing but respect for him. Does anyone else feel that way about anyone in particular? That perhaps what you were taught, or fed, when you were younger was wrong? Or better yet, do any of you know how it feels to be misunderstood?

Yeah, Malcolm X was a pretty awesome guy.

I think a lot of people and groups presently and historically have been presented less than round or accurately in either the media or in references.

Martin Luther. Growing up in Ireland I've received a not so positive image of what he did and what he stood for. Not just for religious purposes.

I think religious fanatics just don't get treated too well by historians, no matter what they achieved.
