Hancock (2008) I cant wait!
Movie Title: Hancock
Director: Peter Berg
Starring: Will Smith, Charlize Theron, Jason Bateman
Official Plot: A hard-living superhero who has fallen out of favor with the public enters into a questionable relationship with the wife of the public relations professional who's trying to repair his image.
I can't wait for this movie to come out! I have to admit, I don't know what to expect of Peter Berg. The Kingdom was a big hit, but that was really his first break through. Can he pull off this complicated movie without ruining the giant opportunity placed before him?
I tell you, if this movie sucks because of Berg, I will be extremely upset. Unlike The Hulk, someone could re-make that because it's Marvel, but this is a one-time chance, if he blows it, I won't be excited about a movie ever again.
The plot is a nice touch, and it was released at a good time (after everyone's let Iron Man and The Hulk sink in, seeing a GOOD spoof - no Superhero Movie crap from the bored 'crew' of Scary Movie (they were probably just the coffee-guys.) I'm talking Will Smith as a drunk and hated superhero, instead of a boy getting bit by a dragonfly.
So Berg, don't mess this up!!
What do you feel about this movie? Interested, or do you prefer the poor film-making of the likes of Meet The Spartans?

Got to say the trailers for this spiked my interest. And Will Smith... that man just can't seem to stop saving the world

Nick, I think the concept is great. It's as if Superman had the attitude of Pacman Jones (for those non-Americans and non-sports fans, Pacman Jones is an NFL football player who thinks his profession makes him above the law. He found out the hard way that he's not).
This is a pretty good trailer.

Edit: don't read the comments to this Youtube clip, there appears to be a plot spoiler.

I can't recall a bad Will Smith movie, and I don't think this one will be any different. I'll definitely go see this one.

I had to look at the photo twice! That does not look like Will Smith.

The beard, sunglasses, and wooly hat take away most of his face, so for a second I didn't recognise him.

I second that.I'm a lifelong Batman fan and I've loved Bale since American Psycho.
I'll probably see the movie.I like Will Smith, but I hated I Am Legend. It's probably because I always loved The Omega Man, though.I know they were based on the same book, I just prefered The Omega Man.Charlton Heston was awesome.
I'm a comic book dork and I've always loved superhero stuff, especially if the hero is an asshole and not neccesarily likeable, which is what Hancock looks like.It doesn't matter to me if I like or hate a character as long as they're compelling.Like The Maxx, for example.Stupid character, great storyline.Hancock looks like an anti-hero, which I'm always a fan of.

I didn't want to be the one to say it, but I whole-heartedly agree.

I have to admit that I like the first half of most will smith movies. Lately the first half is nice and depressing, realistic really. But then, the second half is all garbage because some switch was turned on with the writers saying "Okay guys, pull it out of the gutters for a happy ending no! You've got fourty five minute!"
I'm sure the first half of this movie is going to rock. A struggling superhero, unable to find his place in society, and is he really good or bad? Sounds wonderful! But I've already seen the second half in the previews: Struggling super hero finds his place in society and with his new found responsability struggles to defeat a master vilan.
I want to see it, but maybe I should walk out after the first half so that I can like the movie.

Hanckck looks set to be really good, and I'm hoping that one day I will see it. Now I'm not usually one for superhero movies, and I know that Hancock is probably as far away from the category as you can get, but I keep surprising myself. I went to watch 'The Incredible Hulk (200 ' a week or two ago and I have to say it's one of my favourite films of all time! The problem is, there's too many films I want to watch!

Really looking forward to this one. I love the scene in the trailer where Hancock is in Gaol and he says to two inmates "If you're not nice to me I'll take your head and shove it up his arse." Next thing you know you hear a Screaming then a thud followed by a squelching sound as all these surly prison types cross themselves and look away, horrified. I couldn't stop laughing.
I am not ashamed to say I loved Independence Day - it was a good old fashioned Alien Invasion Movie updated for the 90's (a retread of War of the Worlds I know but still).
