Weird question

Why can't women put on eye make up with their mouth closed?

I was visiting a friend of mine who I used to date today, and she was getting ready to go out, and I noticed while she was putting on mascara that her mouth was wide open.I've noticed this before, but never really thought about it.

So is there a reason for this?Is it physically impossible to close your mouth while putting on make up?

Well.... there's that, but I'm sure you know about it.

I've tried to do my eyes without opening my mouth. I have no idea why, but it seems to be physically impossible.

I believe it's physically impossible - I've also tried to put on mascara with my mouth shut, and it doesn't work.

Though my mouth isn't wide open while putting on mascara, just a little open.

I don't wear eye makeup, but I notice that whenever I'm doing something involving my eyes (like plucking an eyelash or something), I open my mouth too. I always assumed it had to do with the facial muscles--when you open your mouth (I in addition draw my top lip down over my teeth), it stretches the muscles away from the eye and smooths (sic?) out the little wrinkles around it so it's easier to deal with.

That's just my uninformed opinion, though. *shrug*

Thanks Tucanbundy. I thought I'd try this for myself, and now my wife's all upset. I tried to tell her it was an experiment.

Lol - that's the first I've ever heard of that. My mouth is shut the whole time. I'm gonna try it tomorrow with my mouth open and see if my eye make-up looks any better
