In the left-hand corner…..mammamaia!!......And in the right-hand corner……Hodge!!
mamma believes only wimmen can save the world. Her website http://www.saysmom.com/maia/ is full of it. On the other hand, Hodge has evidence in the form of http://www.csulb.edu/~mfiebert/assault.htm and http://www.anthro.utah.edu/PDFs/Papers/ec_aggrbeh.pdf that we would perhaps be worse off if they took over.
So who is right? Could wimmen make the world a place in which all might live harmoniously? Or do we need men in charge, to keep a damper on women’s feelings?

Okay, HE said this one, I didn't. It's still true, though.

Judging by what I see in relationships, I don't see any real differences that could be expected. Maybe if women ruled, we'd probably have far fewer wars. But then I would expect integral issues not within their domain to fail.

If women ruled there'd be just as many wars. Women have just historically had less chance to let their ambitions and desires turn them into ruthless tyrants, so we automatically assume that only men get that way.

I hate to say this, but I agree with Hodge's last statement. The Amazons were one of the most warlike civilisations in history, and that is saying a lot.
People are just people. Some are good, some aren't. Some are warlike, some are peaceful. That more men are warlike than women is mostly sociological, not genetic. The testosterone helps, but not that much.

I thought Amazon women were mythical.

I don't know much about them yet, but it doesn't sound like Amazon women, if real, were all too willing to get into war.
-Of course, that's according to Herodotus. And what's he worth?

There is some evidence for the Amazon civilization, although they're no doubt exaggerated in Herodotus' accounts. A more reliable example would be that of the ancient Celts, particularly the Britons. Gender equality was a big part of their culture, and women could fight alongside the men if they so chose. I'm sure most of us have at least heard of Queen Boudicca's failed rebellion against the Roman Empire.

I don’t think the backward OP really deserves a reply, but as we appear to be struggling . . .
Our former British PM, Margaret Thatcher, declared war on Argentina, over a small and desolate island that patently belongs to Argentina. She repeated the folly over Kuwait, a tiny part of the desert that plainly belongs to Iraq. Thank fuck she wasn’t pressed over Gibraltar, because the silly woman would have declared war on Spain too (and I wouldn’t be basking in its’ sunshine now).
When Hilary gets there, she will have Iran and Pakistan to worry about. The world can only hope that Bill will keep her in place, and that she has forgiven him over the cigars.

OK, I give up, nobody has responded to the cigar problem, so I need to elaborate.
Would I have forgiven my wife if she had stuck a cigar up as man’s arse on many occasions to savour the taste afterwards?
I’ve got angry just writing it down. No fucking way, is the answer.

They were. Kind of like the feminists who are interested in the equality of men.
