Who are the better drivers - women or men?
Just a few observations to kick things off.
Women have fewer accidents and the accidents they have tend to cause less damage.
Men like to drive faster and more aggressively and women tend to be more cautious and courteous. Having said that, women are much, much worse at road rage than men.
The thing to remember is that driving is a highly analytical task and males tend to be more analytical. Just looking at the break-up of genders for various courses at university will highlight this, since it's the more analytical topics of IT, Engineering and Maths that tend to be male-dominated, whilst the social topics of Medicine, Sociology and Arts are dominated by females.
This points to males as being better drivers. Although it really depends on the personality of the individual, and how they handle pressure. A lot of people don't perform well under pressure. Those who don't would tend to be inferior drivers, since they'd be quite jumpy and nervous, perhaps missing critical cues and making impulse decisions. Those who can keep a cool head would do better since they can calmly work through the thought processes necessary to drive a vehicle.
Both men and women fall into either category.
My sister once stopped in the middle of a highway to see the sunset.

Women have better peripheral vision due to their mothering instincts. Men have better attack straight forward vision lol as a hunter type.
Consequently men hit more roos and women get more easily distracted and have far more little prangs.
Women are better drivers in general because they have BOTH sides of the brain working while men will quite happily plummet over a cliff in pursuit of something

You're not just a pretty face then. This is all most interersting. Especially that bit about peripheral vision.

You're stereotyping and using what are the results of environment, not biology to determine this.

Men have testosterone coursing through them. Testosterone is biology. Testosterone causes aggressiveness.

That's a myth. There is no causative link between testosterone production and aggression in humans.
REFERENCES EXAMINING ASSAULTS BY WOMEN ON THEIR SPOUSES OR MALE PARTNERS: AN ANNOTATED BIBLIOGRAPHY
There are a ton of studies on the subject. Women are, in fact, just as aggressive than men, but since they lack the upper body strength of men (something testosterone DOES do), they obviously have to be aggressive in different ways much of the time.

Same deal with roid rage. People assume that because anabolic steroids act like testosterone, one can become overly aggressive when taking them. But in fact that's just a popular myth, and there has been not a single case of "roid rage."

There are two slight differences between male and female psychology that stands up to scientific examination.
In tests, when viewing a drawing of a complex 3-D object, men are significantly better at performing accurate mental rotations of that object. This is very slightly helpful in some fields of engineering and quite helpful in some fields of mathematics.
Women acquire language slightly earlier and have a slightly larger vocabulary.
Women are statistically better drivers which is why they get cheaper insurance. In practice this is probably because, for women, a car is not such an important status symbol so they drive less powerful vehicles.

While testosterone doesn't CAUSE aggression (no hormone causes anything, they just enhance preexisting tendencies), there is certainly a link between heightened aggression and raised level of testosterone, though...

Women can be just as aggressive drivers. The question was who is the better driver? Ox- define it..You asked the question but what are you getting at?
What makes a better driver?

Every Saturday night you do this to me - you turn up just as Inspector Lynley is about to start and I don't have time to compose a worthy reply. Hang about for two hours or so and I'll get back to you.
