a panic attack

when i think about the fact that as of the 28th of this month i have to go back to school to do my last and most important year, im filled with dread. not for the exams, i only need to get better at maths but at the people.

i live in a tiny inbred irish scum town and the new school has 1000 people nearly, the majority, scum. i hate it. how do i deal with having to face such a majority of people that will be working in tesco at 40?

its such a depressing atmosphere, these people are so ignorant and backward that they point and laugh at guys with long hair.

this sucks.

I had grief all through school for being short, skinny, with long hair and being a bit of a geek (not a nerd though... just a geek...). Weird thing is, when I see some of the people who used to be like that, they have no recollection and think I'm their friend. Ah well. Don't worry, school is finite. When I finished and was at Uni, I worked in a pub for a bit. Best thing I ever did. Improved my sphere of friends, climbed out of my shell and became the booze filled social animal I am today

they used to say I was a goth because I had/have long hair and wore baggy clothes. My hair wasn't even that long, more of a mini fro.
I'm from a small Irish town too btw - in Wicklow.

Man, I think everyone here is thinkin' the same thing.

My school pretty much sucks because I try to be my own person and nobody else likes that.
But you gotta think positive, man! How long is school for you, like 7 hours? For me, letting my work distract me from the perverbeal bullshit that I have to deal with everyday along with the prospect of getting out of that hellhole keeps me going through school.

A significant-other (dunno your gender) works too. Thinkin' about my girlfriend definately helps me get through tough times!

My school is...alright. I'm not necessarily popular, but then again I don't like the materialistic and sometimes pompous attitudes of some of the popular kids, so this suits me well. I'm not unpopular, per se, however...I have a group of pretty close friends, and I'm fine with that. My attitude is be yourself, find friends you like, and forget everyone else...so far I've followed it and I'm relatively happy...

Why don't try and get to know some of these 'scum bags in track suits with neo nazi haircuts'? You might be surprised at how accepting they can be if you could be bothered.
Sounds like you are adding as much soup to the pot.

Biggles, we're talking to a different generation here. Your outlook is fine for the likes of you and I, but how often do you hear of a kid who can be philosophic?

Another angle - psychobabble this time - it's often said that what one sees in others is no more than a reflection of what one sees in oneself.

BATH TIME!! Sorry, bath day. Whoopee!

When I was younger - alot younger - in my late teens I found it just as attractive and intriguing to get to know people especially who I felt apart from. Has nothing to do with age.

Want an honest opinion? I hope they take you somewhere dark and beat the living shit out of you. Regularly.

Are you really so superior to these 'scum'? Have you ever spoken to them? They're real people, as real as you. Put your snobby little stereotype brush away and start rubbing shoulders with people. You're no better than they are, and a hell of a lot less honest.

I don't think generations make any difference. People judge too much by appearances. I know a skater dude who quote Goethe. Goths are more likely to read philosophy. Every generation rediscovers Huxley, Hesse and Kerouak, and it's not just the spoilt rich kids. The OP makes the mistake of defining people by how they look or what they do, rather than who they are, but gets upset when people do it to him.
