Biggles, I dinna ken ye
Biggles I dinna ken ye
"You remind me of a man."
"What man?"
"The man with a power."
"What power?"
"The power of voodoo."
"Who do?"
"You do."
"You do what?"
"You remind me of a man . . ."
Seriously, why are you missing him? I don’t recall a single constructive post by the little charmer. Not a one.
And as for what else he may have done, it was all water off a duck’s arse to me. I think moderators need to be a tad more aware of human resilience - if you don’t like what someone posts, no-one is holding you down and forcing you to view it. And if perchance you accidentally feast your eyes on some of the nasties that pop up, why, I remember a nursery rhyme about sticks and stones breaking bones and words never hurting.
For f**k’s sake, they’re only electronic blips on a monitor.
BOO!!

The fact is that the Voodoo child did contribute some interesting poetry and, although his responses could be a little coarse at times, he certainly didn't get up people's noses generally as much as others on the form. The latter contributing very little in terms of literature (on a forum that's supposed to be for writers) but focusing primarily on debates. Seems like there may be a double standard in operation here.

Or it may have something to do with the fact that German Voodoo constantly made "coarse" comments (what a way to spin rudeness, tactlessness, and trollish behavior at times), while "others on the forum" simply piss you off by not agreeing with you.

I think there are three parties in this:
Those that think Voodoo is a prodigy.
Those that think Voodoo is overwrought and overdramatic.
And, like me, those who just don't give one mindless fuck.

He is a prodigy in my eyes. And he's made many useful comments.
Some of voodoo's poetry is really worthy of note esp at his age.

Baron, am I the latter you speak of? I believe I've contributed a couple of songs, a few poems, short story and excerpts from a longer story. I'm not going to offer up every bit of writing I do. And I don't consider myself a writer but I am interested in putting in my two cents for what it's worth
and enjoying the debate.

Interesting, shove in a comment like that and see who homes in on it. No, I didn't have you in mind. Just wanted to make the point that if mods are going to apply discipline to the boards, and I suppose they must, then perhaps they could apply it a little more justly.
Those that think Voodoo is a prodigy.
Those that think Voodoo is overwrought and overdramatic.
I could swing back and forth between those because I think they both fit. The thing is that he knows it and he's trying to work it out.

Ok I've thought about it OX.
I don't wholly agree with you about words being just little blips on a computer.
The words might be extremely inflammatory and invite real consequence.
We are in a public forum which might equate to being
simply ignored and eventually banned or a full inquisition into your wherabouts by some regulatory authority.
I've explained why I like voodoo as a young person with great ability.
But for my interest in his absence, that was simply a matter of curious concern.
Your thinking I'm a man is probably because I'm surrounded by them.

Psychology students could find everything they need, by way of human idiosyncrasies, in the members of a forum.
I too have on occasion in other fora posted a remark along the lines of your vague “the latter contributing very little”, and every guilt-ridden reader in Christendom immediately sees themselves in the posting.
