How should I arrange the books on my new bookshelf?

Yes, this post is slightly pedantic and stupid, but it is very important.
I am rearranging my room to suit my new-finished-high-school persona and part of that includes a new bigger bookshelf

So...how should I arrange the books?
Should I arrange them in genres? (like short story anthologies, crime, nonfiction...)
Should I arrange it alphabetically?
Should I arrange them by books I have read and books I havent read?
Should I arrange them by size and colour?

So many options!

opinions?

I have an idea: don't arrange them at all. It'll suit your personality better.

By size and type of book, then by author, then by order in the series is how I arrange mine.

Two works my friend. Size matters. I have all my hardcovers organized my biggest to smallest, then the paperbacks follow the hardcovers biggest to smallest.

Mine are in no order. When I moved back home a month ago, I just threw all my books on the shelf. Most aren't even standing upright.

For me, accessibility is most important. Those books which are used most often are at eye level or at the top of my bookshelves, such as reference books and favourite authors. The bottom shelves are reserved for dust-gathering volumes which are seldom, if ever read.
