Well, I dunno.
Maybe it's just not as much of conversation as over here. If you think about it, the stereotypical American is able to express their thoughts and opinions with wild arm movements, excessive enthusiasm, unneccessary bodily contact and daring vocabulary, and so they don't really need to emphasise their points with profanities.
We Brits, however, are a lot more retired (stereotypically, of course). We can't really see ourselves expressing ourselves with the near inhuman eagerness that the Yanks do, and so we need these words to get our points across.
In short, I reckon Americans simply don't need profanities - but hey, maybe an American here can comment on the matter, as I've only ever been to America once.

What's with you non-Americans and your American stereotypes? It's almost as if you pull them out of another dimension.

I could say the same and worse about your British stereotypes. Methinks it's just what nations tend to do. I think the majority of people realise that Americans aren't all the way the media represents them, but enjoy the illusion nonetheless. That and you reelected that idiot.
Edit: sneaked in there and proved my point for me, Farror

Our media is more conservative than yours. Normal people swear all the time, but on TV not so much (and never in the newspaper).

It's all generalisations anyway. Anyone who has seen Casino or Goodfellas knows that certain American's have no problems with curse words.
My issue with curse words is the league table. What's that about? Certain words being more acceptable than others. "A" words and "b" words are okay but the "f" word can cause problems and heaven's help anyone with a "c" word.
Who wrote this league table?

With the exception of bad teeth, I can't really think of any British stereotypes, and only that one because of Austin Powers...

British stereotypes:
Brits are pompous assholes.
Brits are really, really white.
Brits boil everything that they eat.
Brits hate the Irish.
Brits all act very gay.
