TiVo....go swallow a knife, I HATE you!!
I saw a commercial for TiVo today and my listless mind, who's apt to think now-and-then (it's quite frightening, I know), was thinking that TiVo is a consumerism byproduct.
(NOTE: Basically, I've been analyzing television commercials for the past few days since outside there's been quite a chill....called Fall, which has completely obliterated time spent outside AWAY from the tv where I've been having these crazy, paranoid thoughts....which I am all too complacent to bring to the Lizard Lounge. This'll only last until my blood adjusts to the temperature change 'cause New England Weather's quite an elusive creature.)
Tivo needs to die, hence the title.
But Tessie, by the Dropkick Murphys, needs to LIVE ON FOREVA, like that band.
Seriously, about that Tivo thing. I was thinking this to myself earlier, whilst watching a tivo commercial and as an afterthought, as if I needed an incentive, I added to myself, "Are they trying to make us fat, dumb and lazy?" Exactly.
Tivo basically ENSURES that you will watch T.V. NO MATTER THE CIRCUMSTANCES. You could end up curled around a tree in your Lexus after 6 pints at the local winery and if you've got a Tivo at home, and as you're spilling 6 pints of local blood out of your system from a gaping wound in your head, your last thoughts before you pass out will be: "Thankfully, I won't miss season 2 of My Fair Brady."
I think I'll just go consult my How-to-Reason book for answers on why this country believes it needs more remote control when physically we're getting fatter, dumber and lazier.
Meanwhile....your thoughts? I know it wasn't a question but still. I'm doing the best I can.

okay. someone knows how to make friends on these forums....sheesh.
Lemme rephrase this:
Your well-rounded, intelligent, debatable thoughts?
whoa whoa whoa
MAJOR EDIT:
"corporate loving"?
Moi?
F-ing no way!
I hate corporate America. It's disgusting, vile, putrid, and any other synonyms you can think of. But am I a pawn?
If I was questioning TiVo, why do you call me a pawn? I was thinking that it makes people want to watch t.v. more...and that's bad...because people don't, well, move around when they watch t.v.
You gotta lighten up there, Francis!! My gorsh!! I thought this was called The Lounge...not the Flaming Section.
And it's not like you're subjugated by law to respond when I ask "your thoughts"? If you can't find something decent to respond with, just leave this particular post. It's not for the politically active...just for the people who either agree or disagree, say a few THOUGHTFUL words, and leave it at that. I'm not gonna argue with you to the death in a coservative vs. liberal duel. That's for the political forums where you can be free to flame unnecessarily to your heart's content.
BTW, it's not really that political a debate. I just hate TiVo. So there.

I gave a short reply stating I disagree, just what you asked for. You reply with a long, rambling, incoherent bunch of words that are filled with contradictions. "People don't move around when they watch TV." So are you doing jumping jacks as you post?
I don't know why anyone would prefer regular TV over a DVR as with the latter you can make TV fit your schedule, and during the course of watching a movie you can easily leave the room and not miss anything, so it encourages more 'movement' as you are not bound to wait for either a break or the end. And it also allows you to skip over all the commercials, but maybe that isn't a plus in your book, eh?

While it was short, you didn't state you disagreed. Merely, you labeled me with whatever response you could pull out of your ass and it wasn't even that creative.
TiVo's great if you're the type of person who's addicted to a show yet your busy schedule conflicts with timing and whatnot. But I'm not addicted to a show.... I can't sit still for two seconds without getting anxious to do something else. Call that "corporate-loving." I call it living. So...I like to live outside and move around. I still don't see how that makes me a corporate-loving pawn.

No, but I'm not sitting in front of the computer hours at a time, unless I'm writing....and writing involves thinking, whereas Television involves sitting, watching, listening and on the occasion, chuckling. Some people get classy and eat or even sleep in front of the television.
I just hate TiVo because it's a trend. Also, because I'm old school and if the pizza delivery man is at your door, even if you're at the climax of a really good movie, you get up and get it. I don't like complacency. I'm too young to be complacent. And this post wasn't meant to be serious, hence the title. If I knew some people were gonna get all, "ooh you're all consumerist hypocrite scumbag," I would've just ignored the temptation to share my thoughts....and wrote an emotive poem about TiVo instead.

My opinion was quite implied, perhaps one doesn't need a Tivo for their mind to go to mush.
