Which do you perfer to write in?
Personally, I perfer 3rd person writing, but I usually write whatever works best for the piece.

I think that pretty much sums it all up.

Third person is much more versatile which is why I prefer writing in it. But I like reading 1st person much more. It's a lot more personal and allows me to connect with the character better.

I like first person, because I just can't write in the 3rd person well. I have trouble getting into the mind of the character. Which is a big problem, since it'll be become like a play by play of what's going on.

Third person...probably the easiest POV to use. It's like filming a movie.
Hmmm.....and no one prefers 2nd point of view so far? Interesting. I bet if someone's really good with that and send it to a publisher, that could be published since it's rare and unique.

2nd, I'm one of the few I know who prefer 2nd. I enjoy writing poems and short stories in 2nd, because I feel that that's the best way to get into the mind of the character - to BE the character.
I love reading novels that have letters in them, because therefore they're semi 2nd. To date I've written two stories in 2nd, both well-received, and one published.
I would give writing a novel in 2nd a shot, but I've tried to read novels in 2nd and it's difficult to do. 2nd's better for short pieces rather than novels.
After 2nd I prefer 1st. I hate 3rd, I only write in that if I realise it's really necessary. I feel you and the readers are too disconnected to the characters in 3rd.

Wouldn't writing in 2nd feel weird??? It's like you're addressing the reader and telling him what he's doing..

2nd person isn't easy to write in. I happen to find it easiest, and get a good response every time I do it.
It's not for most people, though.
I think most are turned off the idea because the whole idea of 2nd person sounds 'instructional'. Written well though, it fits just like 1st or 3rd.

Second person reminds of those choose you're own adventure books I use to read. Which is why most of the time second person makes me cringe.

Actually, in most text-based RPGs, you use third person. Some sites use first person, I suppose, but never second person. (I should know. I was obsessed with these things for about 5 months of my life.)

I was reading a book on publishing not too long ago, and the agent stressed that the first person style of writing, is the easiest, most used for beginning writers, and therefore, is not recommended in writing very often. I myself have NEVER liked the style of writing.
"Second person"? I never realized that was even an option. I find that too much like first person!
Third person dominates the world..therefore...

I like first person for my short stories and of course my column, which is autobiographical.
For my more epic, fictional peices where I have a lot of characters to work with, I prefer third person because I can jump around more, even if I find it a little harder.

I've heard that before as well, but it's really not true. It totally depends on what style a writer uses, what style a reader prefers, and what impact that sort of narration will have on the story. I happen to like first person because the reader feels more connected with the story—rather than viewing everything from a camera, you're actually being told what's happening by one of the people who were there.

i wrote a small piece in 2nd person once. it was only about 1000 words and it was basically a v complicated plot that i cant remember much of... it was utter shyte lol.
i like 3rd person to write in because you cant really bring in a secondary charicter that you understand.
i sometimes write 1st person and i like to read 1st person.
I read a few books where 1/2 the story is one pov and the second half is the oposite half and you find out that they have 2 perspectives on one point of view and it was very different but i cant remember it now cos it was ages ago.

I like third person but there are somethings that I plan to write in first person. I would never dream of writing in second person though... unless it was a choose your own adventure story.
