Just curious.
I was just wondering what most people think. I wrote a few questions and my answers.
1.Are you more inclined to read a post if you see there have been many replies, or none? None, for me.
2.How often do you check back on replies to topics you've started? Every day.
3.Do vague titles in posts make you more inclined to check them out, or do you only read them if they are specific? They must be specific for me.
4. When you check out a post, do you read all the previous replies, or do you just enter your own? I usually scan the previous replies.
Now, you answer the questions.

1) Fewer replies always gets a faster click from me.
2) Every time I'm on here (quite often)
3) As Aeryn; it just has to sound interesting.
4) I'll read all replies, unless it soars to page 40 or whatever.

Thank you for the replies, Aeryn, Ilyak1986, and Peter Thomas. That is interesting that all the answeres so far show that you are more inclined to answer posts with no or few replies. Does anyone else want to answer them?

I could answer by quoting your whole post, galt. So I'm pretty much with all of you on this one.
Especially when there is a question in the topic fewer replys mean that I may still have something valuable to add. Often the first few posts seem to cover the whole question so all that there is left is to post "I agree with everything" posts (just like this one).

Heh heh, yeah, that is true, Kilhanion. But I am glad you replied to mine. Actually, every reply does help, no matter what it says, because it keeps it at the top on the New Posts list!

1.Are you more inclined to read a post if you see there have been many replies, or none?
...that's not how i decided to read posts, so it's not a factor...
2.How often do you check back on replies to topics you've started?
...i 'do the boards' every morning and don't go back till the next day... however, i do check on ones i'm notified of by email during the day, thanks to the auto-notice feature...
3.Do vague titles in posts make you more inclined to check them out, or do you only read them if they are specific?
...who can know if they're vague till you've seen the post?... i read any that seem to be within my spheres of interest... i only pass by those that are clearly violent in nature, per their titles... and those that are clearly mushy, as well...
4. When you check out a post, do you read all the previous replies, or do you just enter your own?
...i usually scan the prior posts...

Good thread.
1.Are you more inclined to read a post if you see there have been many replies, or none?
I'll read the posts no matter what, however, replying to them depends on where the thread is. In the lounge, or debate, I don't care. After reading work, I prefer not to reply if there have already been given several critiques.
2.How often do you check back on replies to topics you've started?
Once or twice a day, okay, sometimes more... Depends on how "hot" the topic is.
3.Do vague titles in posts make you more inclined to check them out, or do you only read them if they are specific? What, you mean like "please read" or "Help"?
I prefer if titles were more specific, but I'll look in on the vague ones to see if it's something I care to respond to.
4. When you check out a post, do you read all the previous replies, or do you just enter your own?
I read all of the others post. If critiquing though, I'll just type a quick response, then look to see if I'm repeating someone else before I submitt.

I don't have a preference. I'll check things with 0 posts just to make sure people aren't being left out, but I'll also wander into the large post counts just to make sure I'm not being left out.

Lots. Very lots.

It really depends on the title. Something really vague will probably have me pass it over (unless it's got 0 replies).

I read everything. Even if there are 99 previous pages.

1. Number of replies doesn't affect anything for me.
2. Whenever I happen to be online on WF.
3. Things that interest me catch my attention. (In the lounge.) For writing works, anything goes. I try to read as much as I can (especially on poetry.)
4. I read thoroughly the critiques on my own and people's works. For other topics like debate and such, i scan through briefly so my post doesnt repeat what someone has said.

1.Are you more inclined to read a post if you see there have been many replies, or none?
I check on those who have had no replies at all to see if there is anything I can comment on. I don't like seeing lonely posts. This is specific to the poetry forum.
2.How often do you check back on replies to topics you've started? Almost every day.
3.Do vague titles in posts make you more inclined to check them out, or do you only read them if they are specific?
Titles that intrigue me are sure to get me to open up a thread. If the author hasn't bothered to come up with a title I'm less inclined to have a look. Specific titles? Well, I'm not sure what a specific title in poetry would be.
4. When you check out a post, do you read all the previous replies, or do you just enter your own?
I read the post first, most of the time I scan the replies to see if what I want to bring up has already been mentioned but sometimes .. I get carried away and don't care what anyone else has to say about it.
I'm going to add something too. I never - repeat never - flag any of my posts so that I am notified of replies. I don't flag posts that I've commented on either. I try and remember when I've posted a remark and check back to see the author's reply.

1.Are you more inclined to read a post if you see there have been many replies, or none? both... if it's had a bazillion replies, i want to see what the fuss is all about... if it's had none, i also like to try and help out...
2.How often do you check back on replies to topics you've started? daily
3.Do vague titles in posts make you more inclined to check them out, or do you only read them if they are specific? this does not effect me in any way... vague or specific.
4. When you check out a post, do you read all the previous replies, or do you just enter your own? I read the replies

1. When I read the poetry board, I'm more likely to respond to those with no replies. But everywhere else it's just more recent posts that I'm more likely to respond to.
2. Almost every day I think.
3. Yes...which is how you sucked me into this post. Good job! But on the other hand if I saw a post by Ms. Vodka, for example, entitled "click here to see my webcam"....well...I'd be more inclinded to check that out Hopefully she won't give me a beating now..
4. Enter my own, but sometimes I'll give a quick look to make sure I'm not totally repeating something that's already been said.

1. None...I know how it feels not having anyone reply to your stuff. Don't want anyone feeling lonely and without critiques. I try to be fair to all though.
2. Everyday, because I'm still addicted to WF after a year and I must see what the crazy people here are talking about.
3.Titles don't really matter to me. In fact it makes me slightly curious if the title is something boring. I wanna see if the stories are better than the titles (half of the time they are).
4.I skim through the previous replies. Sometimes it's just chit-chat and I skip it, but if it's important I read through it.
