Horror Movies

I am a lover of horror movies... and serial killers but I guess I won't talk about that. My faves are, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, It, Halloween, A Nightmare On Elm Street, Pet Sematary, etc. I love to be scared. Is it just me, or are horror movies lately basically shit? I think all of the new technology takes away the true essence of horror. Which is why I have come up with my own horror movie idea and I am in the works of getting my facts straight to make a script. Has anyone seen a really GOOD horror movie lately or long ago?

Oh yeah! Big horror movie fan here. I'm with you that they've fallen in the scary department. Did you see the movie "The Boogie Man"? Man what a flop! Lots of really cheap (and obvious) tricks in that movie. So little content.
White noise was good until about halfway through when the plot got blurry. Hide and Seek was good. Cursed was alright, but they could have made it better. Really gory bits in that, but the cattyness took away from it. It started out creepy, then about halfway through, it sort of took on this comical air. By the end, it was all slapstick. Blah.
I liked Final Destination and Final Destination two. Those are really the only ones that have come out in the last decade that captured the real horror and didn't get silly with it.
Scary movie(s) and I Know What You Did Last Summer were too tongue in cheek.
I hope someone comes along and reminds me of some good movies that I can't remember at the moment.

I've seen Hide And Seek and didn't like it that well. I thought it was predictable. I really liked the movie Saw. Now that was demented.

Oh YEAH! Saw was messed up! I thought it was a little confusing in places though, I had to watch it twice to understand it fully.
You thought Hide and Seek was predictable? Man, I didn't see that ending at all. I mean, we see the dad doing other things when the girl is off playing with Charlie.
What's your story about, or do you not care to share?

While watching Hide And Seek, I thought Charlie could be one of two people... the male next door neighbor or the dad. I figured it was not the neighbor when the dad confronted the neighbor outside. That would be a pretty stupid way to meet "Charlie". The dad was my only other option. That is how I thought about it anyway.

LOVE horror. LOVED Saw (though it didn't to too well, I thought it was the best horror of the year). LOVED Texas Chainsaw Massacre, LOVED High Tension. LOVE HORROR!!!

I actually wasn't sure that Charlie was a real person until he pushed the girl out the window. I was thinking it could be the girl doing everything and made Charlie up, or a ghost.

Kudos to you for picking up on it. I thought The Ring was creepy, but not scary at all. Oh, damn, and there was another movie with Sarah Michelle Gellar that I saw this last year and I can't remember what it's called. She was in China and went to take care of this woman in a haunted house.
I liked it, it was very scary and creepy at the same time. Though my husband thought it was funny.

Destany, I think you are thinking about, "The Grudge" with SMG, though I never did see that. I liked, The Ring. I thought the concept was cool.

Just a word of warning to everybody:

Do not see the Grudge! It's the most stupid horror movie ever. I have seen bad movies, but nothing is so bad as this, believe me. It's totally not scary and the story is utterly utterly C R A P...

I know, I'm coming on a bit hard about it, but I just was pissed after the movie that I payed 4 euro's for it

Well, having said that...

I really like horror movies, but so stupid that they often are so weak. Yesterday I saw 'The Exorcist: The Beginning'. It's a fairly ok movie but that was about it. It was much to Hollywood like (too sensational, if you get what I mean). But luckely soon there is going to be the movie as the script writers actually wanted it. I have my mind set on watching that.

It's hard to find good horror movies these days. If somebody asked me what I thought was the most scarie movie, I would definatly say the movie with the scary clown which name excapes me for the moment. The clown's name is 'It'. Wow, that movie got me Clownphobia for the rest of my life...

I will agree with you....The Grudge was a load of crap.

On the subject......You dont get horros these days....Its all cheesy stuff....occasionally you will get a good thriller Eg Hide and seek and SAW but I dont believe you get a good horror anymore.....

Especially if it involes a bunch of teenage kids eg I know what you did last summer or especially Wrong Turn.....Crickey what a load of crap!.

The name of the movie is IT. And it is frightening. Although, my mother kinda ruined it for me. It scared her so badly she couldn't shower alone for about a year afterwards and made someone sit in the bathroom with her and the door wide open.

So when I was old enough to see it, I was expecting something far scarier. They "hype" didn't measure up. But then again, my mamma was a big scary woman herself. That spider woulda had nothin on her. I was a little let down.

I still love watching, It, to this day. The clown movie that really scared me when I was little was, Killer Klowns From Outer Space. I still get chills when I see that movie.

Horror movies these days leave the viewer with nothing; but, an upset stomach. Really great Horror isn't about all blood and guts. I want to be 'scared' , not just grossed out!
