Kane is an unknown quantity at this point
Judging from the previews, it looks pretty stupid. And I don't like the way that Bo or Luke are portrayed as idjits. Bo and Luke were heros of mine when I was a child. However, I must say that Jessica Simpson has gotten in splendid shape for the role, and she looks mighty fine.

it will probally suck like everything else Warner Bros tries to remake. Example, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. And the first two Harry Potter movies weren't that good. The only thing I'm looking forward to is seeing Willie Nelson as Jesse Duke. I bet he does great!

Simply another sign that Hollywood is officially out of ideas.

If Jessica Simpson doesn't act like a stupid blonde, I could like it. Daisy is supposed to be BRUNETTE! If you're not going to change your hair to fit the role, don't play the role.

Johnny Knoxville and Seann William Scott seem like they could play Bo and Luke alright, but I'm with Kane- I hope they don't dumb down the roles.
The Dukes of Hazzard weren't morons, but somehow I get the feeling they're going to be played that way. I just can't see Jessica Simpson even acting smart.
Willie Nelson is worth a viewing though, but I think it's a pretty small role.

Jessica is the latest flavor of the month , but you have to admit that video is pretty awesome. The best parts of the movie have probably already been played on the clips.

I've not seen the video, what's cool about it?

I don't have a beef with Jessica Simpson, just that I used to love Daisy as a kid. I wanted to be just like her. I hate to see her degraded by a flavor of the month Ah, I guess ti*s are ti*s though, and that's all most people see her as anyway.

I happened to love that she was smart and pretty. That people never took her seriously and she always showed them. Daisy was SO cool.

Forgive me, but Jessica is just a pretty face with a nice rack. There was so much more to Daisy Duke than her boobies, but apparently, that's all the casting producers were looking for. I mean, come on! Chicken of the Sea, anyone?

Ditto.

I don't think Hollywood is out of ideas - I mean how many scripts are pitched each year, then look at how many are written that never even make it that far. The problem is that you need a movie to make so much money anymore - if it doesn't have a 100 million $$$ opening weekend it's a flop anymore...

I also agree that the original show had a certain class, that this movie is sure to lack. I mean, I can think of about a hundred other people I'd cast before Williams and Knoxville - they are who you get if you don't want any class.

Dukes

I have to go with Destany on this one. Daisy Duke was smart, sexy, and she didn't have to be the 'flava of the month'. She didn't have to be blond, either. Why does she have to be blond? Bad enough when I go to the weather channel and see all these gray haired men, all the women have to be blond---there are women out there with red, brown, gray and black hair that are wonderful too.

Jessica Simpson can't act, either. She's just a pretty face. All I have ever seen her do is that simpering fluff and from the commercials, she does the same thing here.

Willie Nelson will be about the only redeeming factor to this.

Why is it so necessary for Hollywood to ruin what was a good thing with such shallow intentions...?

Actually, Dukes--the TV series--was a remake of this movie, Moonrunners.

Good catch. Lensman...I guess the car took the Lee name.

Destany, I called Jessica Simpson the "favor of the month," didn't really view it as bad. I could have said she was enjoying her "15" minutes of fame. But I think she will be here a little while longer.

I agree there is much more to the original Daisy than breasts, but I also think there has always been a place in American culture for attractive women in tight clothes. Not making it right, but it has proven to be true. In the end, I voted "suck" in the poll, not because I am offended by the treatment of the classical series "Dukes of Hazzard," but rather remakes seem to merely parody TV series. See "Bewitched" as an example as a waste. They better not do that to "I Dream of Jeannie."

I like seeing smart women....Angelina Jolie was good in Mr. and Mrs. Smith. I am not shallow. I am not just there for the T & A, but I admit to liking both and I am not ashamed for admitting that. We are sexual creatures, I embrace that aspect of whom I am, as do most people. I don't see mindless enjoyment of women in "Daisy Dukes" as an evil task, but like you I want a little more substance and plot in my movies.

I agree Jessica Simpson is probably not a serious role model for any woman who regards herself as strong and independent. But on the other hand the video will be good for her and the image she portrays fits not only the song but the movie too, I like Willie's reaction in the opening. See for yourself the "Boots" video? http://www.ifilm.com/ifilmdetail/2674849 or http://www.mtv.com/bands/az/simpson_...a/artist.jhtml. I prefer her to Paris Hilton any time--I am glad that Jessica's knocked Paris's out of the limelight. http://www.carlsjr.com/ontv

I assume any woman can put on a bikini and shake her T & A, but women do not need to expose their bodies in order to get ahead in this world and or in business, so I understand your point. --Cheers, freebird

I would have to disagree that Hollywood is running out of ideas. There are still more original movies than remakes coming out every week. If you don't like remakes, don't watch them. Spend your time instead watching a movie with an original story, this month has plenty of good ones.

People are just flocking to the flicks, huh?

Hollywood's box office flameout. Movie fans are loving DVDs, but not theaters. Maybe it's time for a big change in movie viewing.

If you think about it, movie theatres haven't changed a whole lot over the years, except that the price of tickets, a drink and popcorn keeps going up.

Home entertainment just keeps getting better. First of all, one can watch a movie without hearing some ghetto fabulous jackasses making comments the whole time. But also, especially more recently, television technology has increased to the point where people can buy wide, flat screen tv's with surround sound and all that jazz. Ples, DVD's look a whole lot better than the film used at movie theatres. A bag of Popcorn is under a dollar. A cold drink is just a trip to the fridge away... I much prefer home viewing, and would only see something at a theatre if I couldn't wait for it to come out on DVD.
