Harry Potter?

I hate that guy.
And you should hate him. The books and movies promote witchcraft and devil worship, and should be banned!

There was a case -- documented -- where a child attempted to turn his teacher (unsuccessfully) into a toad. Another tried to lift the skirt of a classmate with "a magic wand."

All this after reading Harry Potter.

chamber of secrets and prisoner of azkaban are the best books in the series. The rest were not as brilliant as everyone claims IMO. I thought she was going to raise the game after reading the half blood prince (maybe because I liked Snape from the start and it was kind of focused on him) but deathly hallows sucked.

Saying that I love the movies

Deathly Hallows was a joke.

How do you begin the final chapter in your billion-dollar novel? Use the first three hundred pages to show your characters wandering aimlessly in the woods with their wands crammed up their asses.

And the final "battle" was a joke as well.

Rowling always made up for her lack of prose by sheer imagination and creativity. The final book didn't have shit.

Joke, right. How many copies did it sell? Must be one hell of a joke to get people to take it so seriously.

to be fair the other harry potter books i really enjoyed... i especially thought that the fourth was simply amazing.
however, rowling really screwed up with this one, i actually thought it began rather well and the fact that they werent all at school really showed their age i thought and their maturity. But the ending was simply crap, she had been building the tension between harry and voldemort from book one, and escalating the final battle that must take place between the two where one dies and the other survives from book four and she left us with that pile of crap? A seriously crap finale to an otherwise great series and reasonably good book.

You're the smartest and most bestest one here, by far. And in addition to your clear intellectual superiority you also have a great personality. You're the coolest. I mean, you're SO brash. I just wish I had the guts to be so rude. Amazing.

you guys make me laugh. what does it matter. some people think she sucks, some thinks she the best. everybody talks about how much money she making and writing is not about money. i say bull an heres why. she didnt buy all those copies. the people did. if people dont like her writing dont buy the books plain and simple. i will agree i have never read one of her books so i cant say. i say though its just crazy to bad mouth someone who did a job.

On occasion, you show that you can be thoughtful and say intelligent things. I'd stick to that.

Problem is, once you get to the point that the series and Rowling were at, you don't have to write a good story for people to buy it. So sales are irrelevent to the quality of the material. It could have sold millions on hype alone, easy.

I thought you were lin for a minute. I had to change my avatar from lin's, to be honest; I kept scaring myself.

Harry Potter? Loved 'em when I was younger. As I grew up, I realize they're ok plots surrounded by cool idea, and the whole thing is wrapped up in hard cover and large print to make you feel good about yourself.

La la la...

You're right. However, she started out writing good stories to get to where she's at. I also think that a lot of the hype is the reason so many people disliked the later books. They were built up too much for people to appreciate what they got. And even though Rowling isn't considered a great writer amongst the literati, I enjoyed the books (even the last one). I was entertained, and to me, that's what important.

My dearest wish is to one day be as successful and despised as J.K. Rowling and Dan Brown.
