To sleep or not to sleep.
Does anyone experience the same problem I do when it comes to sleep. I sit around all day doing stuff, but when it is time to go to bed I don't want to. I feel sleep is but a waste of time. While I'm asleep nothing is getting done. and I always feel like there is somthing I need to do before I can stop long enough to sleep. there is always somthing that needs doing, its never ending. And I feel none of it gets done while I sleep.I read in a book that writers and artist do not have as restful of a sleep as the the average person, even though they in most cases wind up sleeping more often.
anyways the whole point was just to see if anyone else hated sleep as much as I do...

I've been thinking exactly the same thing. Exactly. I hate sleeping because it wastes time and there's so much I could be doing. When i stay up late and get a lot done, I feel great about myself. However, I also happen to hate me because when I'm awake I waste too much time. Plus, I'm a friggin hypocrite. I hate hypocrites.

I want to sleep; I just can't, or at least not well. When I finally do fall asleep (usually at four or five am), I wake up about every hour. This lasts until about ten am when I finally give up and go write or read a book. I find that my restlessness has a lot to do with me not being able to turn off the creative part of my brain. Ideas come to me at all hours and it takes a lot of effort to put them aside.

I do feel like it's a waste, but since I don't really do anything when I'm awake either it's sort of a hypocritical view. Still, I like doing nothing and wish I could consciously do nothing for longer periods of time. Plus, I am usually unable to sit down and actually write until about 11 PM, and once I start doing that I tend to get lost. So far, it's been about two months since I've gotten a full night's sleep. It's gotten so that even on weekends I can't get enough sleep because my body is used to running on less sleep.

My answer is similar to everyone elses.
I know I need sleep, but I tend to do alot of work in late hours of the night. I waste too much time during the day.

Yar, I sleep about 4-6 hours a night, 8-10 every now and again when my body makes me. Sometimes I wish I didn't have to sleep at all, but at the same time I love sleeping. Just not enough hours in the day.

I remind myself of Raskolnikov (minus the killing), just sitting around all day doing nothing but saying I am busy working and turning down friends and other people because I am too busy.
Once I hit the sack though I'm out for the duration.

Man I sleep, and alot! Though I also hate staying awake and accomplish nothing, it makes me feel like a more loser than I'm already turning into!

I have various sleep problems--hyperactivity, manic issues, odd internal clock, etc. I rarely sleep. I like to when I do, though. It's cozy. On the other hand, I feel like I might be missing something while I'm out. It's a conflict.

I LOVE my sleep. I'll go to sleep between 11pm - 2am, and sleep until anywhere between 6am and midday, depending on the day and what I have to do and etc.
Sleep is one of the best parts of my day.

I read about some guy who hated sleep, so he started taking a variety of medication and caffeine to keep him awake, to the point where he only sleeps about an hour a month or something.

Wow. I don't think I'd like that. Of course, controlling my sleep completely would be wonderful. Sleep so many hours when I decide to sleep... Store it away like I had a sleep stomach in my brain. I hate it when I write late into the night and have to stop because my eyes won't stay open.

...yea
There is this new pill out((I have no idea where or what it's called, I saw it on the news a while back)), it's supposed to be a sleep substitute. It speeds certain processes in your body up that usually only activate while you sleep.
((with the exception of a few mental processes like memory storage and such, they fear that this pill could dangerously effect memory since the brain can't store things like it's supposed to since your awake))
So basically your asleep, just conscious and able to move...It was intended for mothers how stay up late with sick children and still have to go to work the next morning. They can take that pill when they would normally go to bed and then by morning their body has gone through the processes it needed to go through and she feels like she got a good nights rest and can go to work like normal. its recommended no more than 4 nights in a row.
I wish I could get my hands on that pill...I would be able to get everything done needed to be done, then after 3 days sleep it off, then start over...then I would only sleep like every 3-4 nights.which would only be about twice a week. and there would be no physical penalty...heaven...
