Email worse than marijuana?

Is email really worse for your mental health than marijuana? That's what this study says. The IQ of those addicted apparently decreases faster than it does with those that use marijuana.

Brain functions are the same as muscles. If you don't use them, they become weak and degenerate. In this day and age we have computers and TV that do all of our thinking for us, and without exercise the brain becomes more feeble. Basically, the current generation is stupider than previous ones (albeit more knowledgable).

Hmm, could it have something to do with the fact that people are less careful with e-mail? Some people just don't bother to spell check. I'm sure everyone knows at least one person who writes e-mails and/or posts that look like this: "How R U? I ma fin. Thnigs R so crazu over her. lol!" I think it might be people like this, who type without thinking, that might have this difficulty. I think people, on average, are more careful about what they put into writing.

Hey, even with e-mail I type normally.

I work in a state office and it's disturbing how badly some emails are written. Emails that go to everyone in my division consistently have spelling errors, terrible grammar, and MISUSED APOSTROPHES! Is the apostrophe really that hard to understand?

I was at a restaraunt earlier today. There was a sign on the counter by the register that said:

"Bounced checks will be subject to fee's."

If it's just a plural word, no apostrophe is needed. Just the "s."

I don't know why people have so much trouble with that, but I see stuff like that all the time.

Because the English language is like Frankenstein's monster, that's why. Pieced together from parts of other languages. French, Norse (now Icelandic), Gaelic, Germanic...

I've taken French and it was sort of nice to have rules that always apply, not just sometimes. English is a very hard language to learn, although it's ironic that native speakers seem to have a harder time with it than those who have it as a second language.

Hehe. Everytime I see mistakes like that at restaurants <-Hate spelling this word| or anywhere, those places lose credability with me. You would think that they would try to be as professional as possible.
