The Original Grudge

I've just watched the original Japanese 'The Grudge' (in dubbed English, unfortunately, which spoilt it a bit). Shouldn't have watched it alone I don't think!

Anyway, just wondering if anyone has seen both the original and remake? If so, is it worth seeing the remake after the original? I'm very cautious about remakes - they usually completely miss the point of the story and ruin them - just watch both versions of 'Dawn Of The Dead' for a good example of this. The remake is terrible in comparison to the original and I really regretted watching it afterwards.

So, should I see the new 'Grudge'? Is it as scary as the original? I can hardly see how it could be. The original is the scariest film I've ever seen in my life.

Remakes are never as good as the originals. It's better to watch the original alone than watch the remake after. Remakes are usually a big let-down.

For the record, the original Grudge is called "Ju-On".

Talia_Brie is an unknown quantity at this point
I've seen thenew one, and I thought it was very very good.

Sam Raimi Directed (or produced? Not sure), and they used all the same sets as the Japanese version.

And it is one of the scariest horror films I've seen in a long time. Right up there with The Ring and Halloween.
