Chocolate Chip Cookies
Does anyone have a good recipe for chocolate chip cookies? The one I've been using is terrible, and even though I've altered it a bit to make it better, it's still not that great.
Anyone care to share their recipes?

I have to laugh, this is a writing forum not a baking forum. However i will indulge you.
cream together: 1c. margarine
1c. brown sugar
1c. granulated sugar
Add: 2eggs
2T. hot water
2t. vanilla
Beat until fluffy. Sift together and add(really you needn't bother sifting--I don't find it make a difference)
1 2/3c. white flour
1 1/2c. brown flour
1t. salt
1t. baking powder(it says baking soda, but that makes them taste like...soda. Yuck)
add: 2c. chocolate chips(you can make it with less)
1 c. chopped nuts(optional, tho' walnuts are excellent in them)
drop by teaspoonfuls onto greased cookie sheet and bake at 375 F, 8-10min(or until done)
Options: you can also add a handful of oatmeal if you want or replace 2/3c white flour with soyflour.

May be we should have a section just for cooking/baking--it would be interesting.

A section on recipes would be cool. Maybe the moderators will pick this up and think about it. I'm only a mentor so I have no really clout with the big guys.
As for a cookie recipe, best of luck. I myself have never been able to bake a proper cookie in my life. My kids used to use them as weapons I think

Hmm... what if I had no brown flower? Would I use extra white flower instead, or disregard it completely? And, roughly how many cookies does this recipe make?
Hehe, I've been looking on the net for a good recipe, but all I've found are special ones with ingredients that I don't have. So, I figured I might as well ask around here.

yes you can use white flour instead. ps--don't leave it out completely or you'll have really wacky cookies, greasy and/or other deformities.
Sorry, I forgot about the amount --the recipe says 5-6 dozen, but it never EVER works out to that--closer to 3 dozen when I make it and my cookies are not that big.

I can't cook. Me trying to bake cookies would be a disaster zone.
For the Australians, I use the Sara Lee cookie dough. The one that comes in those bags you buy from the fridge and they've already got the dough dished out into portions, so you just gotta throw them into the oven and eat them as soon as they're back out, cause that's the best time to eat them...
Or I just eat that cookie dough raw. Even better.

it's really not that difficult as long as you follow the recipe. Don't follow my sisters example and use 1/4c. baking soda instead of 1/4tsp.

A baking forum... What an ingenious idea. Hm, perhaps I could transform my newly formed and failed debating forum into one of those.

I love to cook. I make a delicious Venecin Stroganoff. My breaded steak sandwiches are awesome too. Plus girls like guys who can cook. My mom would have starved to death if not for my dad.

Who needs to bake chocolate chip cookies when they're available in a packet at the supermarket. Plus grandparents who spend the majority of their waking lives baking things.

You can't sample the dough from the cookies in the supermarket and that's the best part about baking cookies!!!
