I worked for a construction firm who built houses in Dublin for the nackers (gypsies). Those guys were scary. They didn't believe in packing heat to intimidate people. They just intimidated them.
They weren't all bad people, though. Most of them were dead on, but one particular guy really took out. He started stealing, vandalising, and just making an ass of himself. I caught him trying to steal a man's toolbox one day. Asked him what the hell he was at. And then he got pissed and said that we were going to go at it. He came back about a half an hour later with about ten other nackers. I thought, fuck me what have I done here? He said he wanted to fight me, bare-knuckled. These fuckers actually gamble, make videos, and money off two nackers (usually) fighting each other bare-knuckled. It was the first time I walked away from a fight in my life, but they wouldn't have any of it. They surrounded me and told me if I didn't fight him one-on-one, I'd have to fight all ten of them.
For all his shit talk, though, the guy couldn't punch snow off a rope. It took me a minute to learn that he just randomly threw punches. It took about another minute to knock him on his ass. A couple of hooks and jabs later, and he called a quits.
It's probably still the scariest moment of my life. People I understand; nackers are just crazy. One minute they could be fighting fair, next minute one might try taking your head off with a steel bar.

Well, Sam, I don't live in Dublin and I've never run into any "nackers" . But as an FYI: I did for a very short period, work for Dublin Contractors here in my city. It's a painting company run by an American-Irishman. Supposedly he's as string an ox too, at least according to one of the workers that once saw him working out in the same gym. Being a good Irish son he sponsors the listings and ratings of "family movies" in the local Catholic paper for his mother. This once used to be known as "Snapper Town" and not just "Brew City."
The famous maxim goes though: "Now your enemy and know yourself."
So, knowing myself, at least being cognitive of my abilities, as the Brits would say it would be "Quite right!" for me to stay ten stories the hell away! from that sinister glareing bastard fully loaded on steroids and hate. (probably a good combination actually )
I'm just assuming by that swastika on his chest he wouldn't enjoy my company. Maybe.

I'd show him a pic of Clay Aiken and run away as he stares at it lovingly.
Rule of Thumb: Never mess with a guy that has nazi tattoos and guns.

To answer your original question, Writ: At this moment in time, I'd probably do my best to avoid any confrontations with people like that. Five/six years ago, who knows? He looks a tough SOB, but without those guns, you never know.

What if he asked you to come sit on his gun? And not the semiautomatic kinds he was holding.

Is he following me or is he walking on the opposite side of the street? Is it dark or broad daylight, and am I in an alley or on a street (and if you say alley, then you don't know me well enough to know I wouldn't take an alley shortcut, day or night).
Tatts do not a killer make (or I'd be one... although mine isn't a racist one). Muscles, either. Guns though, yes, sure. lol
Folks, he's just a guy unless he's making some kind of threatening move or if you get one of those primal/instinctual vibes that tells you otherwise. I'd just keep doing what I was doing.

Hawke, you are to be commended for given this more thought than it deserves.
