Barr ain't it.

I've met Bob Barr several times. I'm from Georgia. Trust me, don't vote for him. Paul is great, Barr is a diabolical ass. I like his new position, but I don't trust his big about face from his position five years ago.

Oh, thank goodness Malone. The way you started off, for a moment I thought you were going to defend him. He's a major tool. Plus, the country isn't ready for a president with a mustache.

This is ONE reason why I hate Obama. If I made a list of all the reason why I don't like him, it would take up a few pages and people would complain so much on here I would go mad.

Word. So glad Ron Paul decided not to endorse Barr.

Nader is absolutely brilliant, well informed, and truly is looking out for the average American. He's eccentric as hell, but he's fucking smart. He worries more about small business owners than mega-corporations, which is why you don't see or hear much about him, and why you don't know anything about him.

Also, just to demonstrate how fucking cool he is, like eight years ago when they wouldn't let him debate and everyone was shitting on him for running and taking away democratic votes, I sent him an email saying how much I admired him and how I thought he was doing something extremely important by running. I also asked him a question about consumer rights we were talking about in my economics class. Not only did he respond PERSONALLY and answer my question, he gave me the names of other specialists in the area I was asking him about and urged me to contact them. You think Obama or McCain would respond to you and take time from their schedule to help an 18 year old kid figure something out? I don't. And Nader is almost just as busy as they are, so don't use that as an excuse.

I really wish Paul and Nader could get together, compromise on some issues (their views are surprisingly similar in certain areas) and run on the same ticket. Let Paul be President and let Nader be VP with Cheney-esque powers and decisions. I can guarantee you that if they were in charge, there wouldn't be a 700billion dollar donation about to go to big business, or if there were, Nader sure as hell would make it so the taxpayers would profit from the deal.

They sorta united.

Quote:
Representative Ron Paul (Texas) and Ralph Nader were interviewed on CNN
and appeared at the National Press Club on Wednesday. Paul and Nader, an
independent candidate, have joined with Chuck Baldwin of the
Constitution Party, former Representative Bob Barr of Georgia, who is
running for president on the Libertarian Party ticket, and former
Georgia congresswoman Cynthia McKinney, who is the Green Party's candidate.

The four third-party candidates have agreed to sign on to a four-point
plan that includes bringing American troops home, protecting civil
liberties, balancing the federal budget, and investigating the Federal
Reserve.
Ron Paul's speech at the National Press Club was fantastic, I suggest 'youtubing' it.

There was already a law in place that stated that any viable fetus that survived a late term abortion be given sustaining medical care. That bill passed in 1975. According to the bill what was going on in that video would be illegal and inhumane.

Oh God. I'd never actually vote for Bob Barr. I'd vote for myself before I voted for him. If anyone wants to use me as a write in I'd support that.

I had only heard about that recently. For the life of me, I cant understand how anybody in their right mind could consider abortion humane. Let alone something like that.

You must be the girl version of me. haha. What event do you do?

Actually, many of those are wrong, specifically uplifting the poor by destroying the rich.

Mexico right now is in a clasic case of this. After NAFTA the top 5% wealthiest in Mexico doubled their income, where as the avergae workers made about half as much as they did previously. Coincidence I'm sure, but either way if you apply the laws of physics and reaction to this you get an interesting result.

Furthermore the "trickledown" theory doesn't and has not worked in this society... ever. In fact I want some statistics of when it has worked.

However if you raise minimum wage what happens is a domino effect, because hte lowliest worker now makes more all companies must adjust their wages and everyone moves up a notch or two to compensate for the smaller gap between rich and poor. The money trickles up, actually, until you get to the top one percent, the executives. The top 1% loses.

Boo fucking hoo.

This thread is funny. Makes me want to vote Obama just to piss stupid people off. Aren't neo-conservative supposed to be goo economists? You guys should read some Andre Gunder Frank, or fuck even Meminger. He at least understands class interaction.

When capitalists attempt egalitarian policies they defy their own god.

Unfortunately your opinions on trickle down economics as well as conservatism are mislead.

heh. Try the Regan era. It's the perfect example. Using supply-side economics and lowering federal income rates unemployment dropped from an initial 7.5% to nearly half of that after his first term. By applying large scale tax cuts and applying laissez-faire policies Reagan was able to effectively eliminate an inflation rate of 11.83% by 4.32%.

Of course during the Regan era nation debut did balloon considerably but for the most part I attribute this to increased military spending resulting from the cold war.

The trickle down policy works on the assumption that the best way to improve the economy is by providing tax cuts increasing supply, this especially works well when you balance it w/ social conservatism and focus on the nuclear family which is actually the basis of conservatism. Some liberals would argue that it is fruitless to increase the supply, you should actually use tax cuts to increase the demand. See if a company has cuts it leads to expansion, more jobs, and higher wages for the nuclear family. The common misconception with conservatism is that it is singularly beneficial for the wealthy. Even though tax cuts for big business are mostly compensated by deflating the economy and shifting tax to the nuclear family it balances out by providing more jobs as well as higher wages.

Today Conservatism has a tarnished reputation when it comes to economics. Most people have some weird ideas about trickle down economics and how conservatism actually works and your post confirms that for me.

It's really a matter of opinion but it is ignorant to say trickle down economics has never worked because it has.haha its kinda funny how you say a bunch of people in this thread are retarded when you are posting shit right from your ass.

Personally I'm a right wing fiscal conservative. I don't know but I guess I just agree with conservative thought, it just makes sense to me.

cman, I cant even tell what you are. You insult republicans all the way to the last line, where all of the sudden youre saying democrats defy capitalism by trying to get everyone on the same level. Or am I misinterpreting what egalitarian policies are?

In my mind, democrats are like communists. Great philosophies and views that I totally agree with.. But the system just doesnt work, and or is morally wrong imho. If those systems worked, and I felt like they were morally right when it comes to certain things (I.E. abortion for democrats, and absolute control for communism), then I would vote democrat, or move to russia.
