I think early hominids living anywhere...
...on the planet would be better equipped to survive, for example, the looming 2012 type disaster than today’s modern people. No blackberries, grocery stores -- know what I mean?

Humans are adaptable, at the moment they are adapted to comfy living (Where you are anyway) but if it all goes tits up they will adapt to the new conditions very rapidly, except for a few who will die, but they won't count any more then.
