Yeah that's an inside joke, he can't stand peanut butter. I'm just being a smartass.

Why not? Doesn't taste that bad...

On an on-topic note: I don't approach people. People don't approach me... often. The majority of my "friends" are up in the air on whether or not I'm just the person they socialize with when no one else is free.

Ideally, I'm a loner. I LOVE being alone!

But unfortunately, I have to work. And I have to be sociable. I'm a private duty nurse and you not only have to please your patient, but their families, too.

I can be quite sweet when I have to be. Otherwise, I'm a little sarcastic and snide.

If you thought there was online and on the other hand friends-in-person that you meet, then Facebook puts an end to that. It's true about being able to find an answer to a question within seconds on the internet. Does that mean people now are more knowledgeable than 15 years ago? It probably does...if that is what it is used for (im jus thnkn of th AOLers wtf? lol.)

Yeah, and wiki's are also making the world more knowledgeable. It's the information age!

After I posted that I though: hold on, isn't knowledge meant to be passed through generations anyway. The difference is it's always been practical knowledge. I suppose one key area that the internet excels is the crossing of geographical boundaries. Whereas previous knowledge, however rich, was more restricted to a locality.

Also through the internet people can convince themselves in some crazy things through the free publishing of some lunatic ideas. if I'm looking for a technical fact I might settle for wiki. It is good for that.

EDIT talking to a Banned user, oh well. Didn't seem that offensive.

Damien, I find the internet an extraordinary tool for developing social skills. There can be the banter as you say, but there can also be some very constructive interactions.

When you critique a poem for example, there are several things that I notice. You have a very clever sense of humour. You have an eye for detail, you have an empathy with the poet themselves and you balance some very usuful advice with a sense of fun.

I am a very shy person in real life. I am more of an observer like sparky spoke of. What I really like about the internet is that you can by pass much of the things we place judgement on in real world and just get to the core of someones thoughts.

In real life, teenagers dont hang out with middle aged people or 72 year olds like the Ox. but here, in a forum with a common interest, we come together in an odd mix of mindless fun and serious learning. I find that very exciting.

Your presence here does make a difference and when you let go of the all the banter that gets thrown about, and see what you have left, then there is value on many levels.

Just as in all things in life, we find what we are looking for. So go looking for what you want to find and you WILL find it.

Damien is kinda right though - if you are spending so much time online and not seeing any of your real friends then you are missing out on something.

The only time I have ever used this site a lot is when I have had bouts of being on smack and crack or when I was kind of working from home and I could see friends and go on the site all day.

I'd go mad if I couldn't chill with real friends, go out to parties and other things.

I don't know how some people on here (especially Malone) get the time to live the things they write about and then have the time to write as well.

I started work about a month ago, being doing loads of overtime and I start Univeristy on Saturday and I hardly ever get the time to come on here and chill for a bit because I like to spend my spare time with friends or writing more. I'm only on for a while tonight because I'm on lates at work and got overtime early tommorow so there's no point in going and seeing anyone becasue I'd only be able to stay for a bit.

I'm not being a twat and saying 'get a life' but having some real life friends can proper help sort your head out.

...What real friends?

And on the internet..You meet the people who truly don't hate gay people like Damien. Of course, there are those who hate them..But not on here I think...At least, they're quiet...
