I've haven't heard her complain about the British. I'll have to ask.

I haven't been to Ireland. We were in England for 3 weeks a couple of years ago, and for the most part, the people were very nice to us and made us feel welcome.

Oh, don't get me wrong - when they're in their own country, they're the nicest people you could meet. When they go to other countries - that's when the shit hits the fan.

That's more down to the sort of people that go abroad and get noticed than them being in a different country. It's well known that the kind of people that go to those 18-30 resort things, go there to get pissed and cop off with as many people as possible. A side effect of getting pissed in these type of people is getting into fights and generally acting like nobs. Add that to the fact that they tend to drink all day and you have the tourists from hell. Hardly comparable to a sight seeing family that actually wants to learn a bit about the culture of the country they're visiting.

Yeah, if you see a Brit outside his own country, look for danger signs (such as a can of lager, or anything to do with football). If you see those, cross the street so as to stay away.

There are cultured, restrained and polite (if distant) Brits, and there are also violent, thuggish, brutal Brits. Sorry bout that.

Actually German's are not the most hated tourists in the world, the French are, even in France.

The most obnoxious tourists?

Hated in their own country? That's impressive.

On another note, In many more family oriented places, especially around Europe, the British are the preffered guest. Polite, jolly and more likely to make an effort with language than other English speaking countries (that will remain unnamed), certainly better than the Germans, who are the universally hated tourists of Europe.
I don't consider myself too typical of an American (USA). Nonetheless, I'm probably more typically American in character then what I know or believe.

An example would probably be - in all honesty - the several times I have wondered to myself how come there are not more French people on this forum? Then it dawns on me every time that they speak French and not English. Then the thought, like it's instinctive or something, pops into my head immediately afterwards each time, "Well, maybe they should."

"Americans," terrib, or Texans?

Should I repeat what Robert Duvall's character in the movie Geronimo famously (at least to me) stated while overlooking the corpses of Indians? "Texans. The lowest form of white man."

It would be my hope that one day you all could replace that with that "Every thing is big in Texas" emblem.

If you can work that one out, your prejudices will roll off your shoulders.
I knew - or know - a young German guy (cool as hell too) who does not fit any of the stereotypes of Germans being stiff, robotic, Nazi's. Even though half my family line originally hails from Germany (they came over in the 1800s) I don't know jack about the Germans overall. I didn't think a German accent could be cool till I heard this guy speaking.

Anyways, this guy loved Florida and said it had the hottest women in the world he's ever seen. To be honest, Florida is an international hub of hot women. One of the finest sets of tatas (breasts) I've ever set my eyes on were that of a reddish-brown Peruvian woman sitting in her car in Florida. Her exposed cleavage was dotted all around with the tiniest, round beads of sweat. Yummy.

Have you ever seen the movie with Russel Crowe called A Good Year? Russel Crowe's character has a secretary in that movie played by British actress (I looked her up) Archie Punjabi. How you Brits have managed to hide a sexy looking woman like that all these years I have no idea. But it would be better to be known internationally for her than for drunken fights in the street.

But, yes, the Germans are probably the worst.

Americans, I don't have a problem with. Well, one. The Yanks seem to always say they can drink a Mick under the table. From personal experience, of course. But, sorry, ain't gonna happen.

Nobody drinks more beer per annum (per capita) than the Irish - FACT. Still, I don't know why I'm bragging about this. It's not a good thing.
I'll take your word for that and I have no reason to doubt it. The Irish are renowned for their drinking.

But the best representatives in drinking some in the United States, would have to be Austin, Texas and Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Milwaukee was ranked number one but has just been replaced by Austin, Texas this year for first place.

I don't know what life and culture is like in Austin but I do Milwaukee because I was raised here. One of my grandfathers worked for two different breweries and retired from one: Pabst.

Believe it or not the breweries in Milwaukee use to allow their employees to pick beer bottles off the line and drink them while they worked! Not only that they gave employees a free case of beer (bottles) with every paycheck. My grandparents use to always have cases of beer staked up in their back hallway (brewery workers also received a beer card that gave them sizable discounts on company made beer).

Back to Brits behaving badly? I'm overflowing with examples.

A crowd of us from the East End went to Newmarket races, just before the Falklands, I must be knocking on a bit.

We were all in the long bar, singing our heads off and got fed up singing, “There's only one Trevor Brooking,” so we changed it to “We're gonna bomb Argentina.” Everyone joined in and it all happened.

One of my buddies was stationed in England to guard an Air Force Base. He said the locals were horribly nasty to him. He had assumed it was because he was in the military but when his wife came out for a visit and they went to London they were kicked out of two bars for being American. So from that point they told everyone they were from Canada =)

They were probably just resentful of the whole "Blair is Bush's bitch" thing.
