Anyone see Babel? I was torn on that movie.

I really enjoyed it. I thought the pacing was fine, if not a tad slow in places. But it kept me interested and on edge. It was a pretty bold move to have that many stories -- and tell them out of sequence. Somehow it all comes together.
Another flick great non-linear movie is Before the Devil Knows Your Dead. I loved that movie!

Requiem is by the guy who made Pi. It's amazing. It's based on a really crazy book. I have it in ebook form if you're interested. It's based on four people. Three are heroin addicts, and the one guy's mom becomes addicted to prescription amphetamines trying to lose weight (vanity). They all have faults and ambitions that are never realized. It's fucking amazing. Well, it's amazing if you think a shot of someone's arm rotting away from a needle infection, then the guy needing dope so bad that he shoots up into the rotting flesh is amazing. Personally, I do.
Jared Leto, one of the Wayans, Jennifer Connely (hot!), and Ellen Burnstyn. Burnstyn is amazing as the mom. As someone who has been on massive amounts of speed for a long time, I was wincing when she would start grinding her teeth.
It's actually a painful movie to watch, it's that engaging and well done. Pi is amazing too, if you haven't seen that, seems like your kind of flick.
And Silverado blows 3:10 out of the water as far as western action. You should check that out. Better character development and better action.
Babel was good, but I liked his first film better. Same style. Can't remember the name. It had Benincio in it.

And the Requiem book makes me think that its author was a huge influence on Cormac McCarthy. After reading Requiem, McCarthy's badass style seems almost weak.

And, despite how amazing Bale was in The Machinist, I found it extremely predictable.

Apocalpyto was an awesome movie.
Alien was good for its time. For the younger generation...not so much. Same with Terminator.
Arachnaphobia? Are you kidding me?
Batman wasnt deep in this movie...but he didnt have to be! Begins set up the character and made us love him.
Joker was deep in my opinion. His social experiments and his motivation. He made me think about the human mind.
And even is you dont think the characters are deep...ITS FRIGGEN BATMAN. The joker and Batman are just bad A. Theyre fun to watch.
Thought I do admit the hand combat scenes werent all that great IMO. Unbeleivable, confusing and somewhat boring at points. It brought me out of the movie into the real world.
As for the whole China thing. I didnt get that either. Seemed useless and random.
Harvey Dent I didnt care for. But lots of people loved him. His sudden transformation I didnt get. Maybe it was something like the killing joke? One bad day can make you insane.

Alright, alright, I confess. Christian Bale lacked any heart both as Batman and when speaking about his secret. He seemed more like a shell. But I suppose I over-looked, and I shouldn't have.
There are a few points GodofLiterature makes that a true about this movie, and a lot that are opinions (but good in my mind, and by the looks of it, a lot of other minds), but that does not change the mark I gave the movie.
Or... maybe, if I keep it a 10 now, it will seem too overrated, as the fight scenes did make no sense. Somehow he managed to be better than EVERYONE, but still move very slowly in his punches, guards etc.
But I have the disagree with GodOfLiterature's point about the Joker having no motive etc., as that was the whole point of the Joker.
If you see this film as equal to (or even worse than) the first Hulk Movie, then no movie will ever impress you in the slightest way. Or that could be a very biased statement. You may hate comic-book-character-movies in any form.
The movie was a little overrated, but still fantastic. I still keep it a 10.
As for other good movies: I'll say them when I can be arsed to remember them.

Pretty good version of the movie there. Only if you've already paid to see it once, that is.

Ah I'll just buy it on Blue Ray when it comes out. That and there's something special about seeing it in a theater. (Plus Arizona's got the or one of the best theaters in the world)

I haven't seen it yet, because I'm having a hell of a time finding a sitter for my days off work. But it is so tempting to just watch it there. I'm overly excited to see this movie and am losing the 'just be patient' battle.

The only money I have is in quarters, and it's saved for tobacco, plus my license is suspeded, so I had to watch it online. I'll buy the DVD, though. If they released them at the same time in theaters and DVD, I would have got someone to buy it and watch it with me.

Heh. Well after I posted, I attempted to watch it through that site but it wouldn't work. Apparently my computer doesn't love me, as much as I love my computer.
Aww, no movies should be watched alone. :-\
