I just broke up with my girlfriend too. Well, a while ago.
Do you have an output? A creative release? Do that a LOT. Not too much, but a LOT. Also, drink cold beverages and do cry if you need too.
Also, bathe regularly.

Wrong! Do a lot of *insert hobby name*. Watch old movies. Play mini-games. Write.

It was a joke, I'm an English teacher in Asia. Relax.
But to actually help, I'll add a serious comment.
Zuhaa: You can go look for a new girlfriend, spend more time with your guy friends or even start a new hobby. The possibilities are endless! Do what I do when I'm stressed, go to paradise (Thailand).

I find it funny that in this day and age if someone says they broke up with their girlfriend, you just cant assume they are male. FYI his gender is under his avatar.

I am so jealous! I've only seen my Thai half of my family once, when I was 7. How cool would it be if I could go on a whim, even a slightly planned whim. And it not cost 1000 something dollars per person. You are very lucky my friend.

This is kinda funny, I took my husband's mother to the doctor today, and while paging through some random magazine there was a list of 10 ways to reduce stress. Now, none of them really stuck in my mind except number seven- masturbate. Well really it said "have an orgasm" but since sex isn't really an option...
Wonder why I'd remember that one =P

Put her naked pictures on the internet then call her and give the news.

For the first week or so, you'll feel like utter crap. Sorry, but there's no way around that. It might even last longer. Depends on how serious you and your girlfriend were.
A month will pass, and you'll start to slowly, gradually forget about it. Don't sit around the house sulking. Go for a jog, swim, go see a movie, play a few games, or anything to take your mind off it. The stress will hit you far more if you're brooding.
Whether it was your fault or her fault, don't get roped into letting her see you, or don't let yourself go see her either. At least not for a few weeks. If the relationship is meant to be restored, it will still be in two weeks time.
Good luck.
Edit: This comment was made with the assumption that he was dumped by the girl. Note to self: read threads fully from now on.

The methodology varies, the theory is, forget the past and concentrate on future actions and desires, if only life were that simple. Sam's right, it takes time, but at least you have plenty and it's yours to use as you wish now.
