There's nothing like a simile.
I had some problems understanding this one. What I vaguely reached, is about how being malicious and deceiving are partly what can be considered human consciousness...
Two questions; what witch hunt - witch hunt in general? Then maybe consider plural tense. And second question; who is he?
I'm not sure I completely get this one either annie. I can see that the pure white apple is the apple trademark on all their computers, the 'snow white' reference can connect to the wicked witch and Turing test, a test of a machine showing human behavior. So does that make the 'him' a computer?
It's about Alan Turing. See related thread : http://www.writingforums.com/writers...-rubuffed.html
I think wikipedia does a better job with both Turing the man and what the Turing Test is. But I'll try.
Turing said something to the effect that we will have achieved artificial intelligence when the average person interacting with either a computer or a person screened from direct view couldn't distinguish which was human and which machine.
Actually, I think the "snow white" apple will be explained better in wikipedia -- I don't know if i'm allowed to post a wikipedia link.

I looked up the links in wiki and now I see what you mean. I didn't know the history of Turing and found that WF link very interesting too. It all falls into place, the witch hunt, the apple the 'human' and the who. Well done.![]()

The workings of your mind never cease to amaze me. Needed assistance to fully comprehend, now that I have it...you're brilliant!
Thank you, all of you, for reading this. I appreciate your comments. and the contrast between a cold and "warm' reading of it.

I did look up Turing in wiki before commenting, but somehow missed he committed suicide. I think it's fine to post wiki links in here, why wouldn't it be?
It makes more sense now, but I'm still a little confused. In relation to the Turing test, how is it exactly Turing himself is proved human?
I had to think hard about this but in the end it dropped into place for me. Nicely done.
