    How short is short?
A valid question, I believe, before we start nominating. Is there a maximum word count, or even a minimum?

Another query on these nominations: Where should we draw the line with the quality of writing? Naturally we won't be nominating something that is genuinely poorly written, but we will come across stories that are well told and well written, though with mistakes in spelling and punctuation. At what level does this warrant being rejected for publication? Maybe a PM to the author that they are up for nomination if they can correct any outstanding mistakes. I know punctuation can drift towards the subjective in some areas, but in many it is either right or wrong.

    Any clarification on this?

I've added a quote from the submissions guidelines in the OP. These guidelines will apply to nominations. Our editors will do minor tidying but will not accept work which needs a major edit. It will be up to the author to ensure that his work is at the standard that would be acceptable if submitting to a publisher or agent.

How many nominations can we make anyway?

I'm making my second nomination for The Intervention by Chris Miller.

The veteran agent by The Jaded.

It is well over your word limit, but I think the quality makes it worth a look

I was going to nominate that one as well. It's a good one.

Something to keep in mind - if a piece is thought to be too long,
or includes text with language (or similar) issues,
excerpts or abridgments are quite acceptable.

At the other end of the scale - how short is short? -
it would be hard to beat Hemingway's low word count piece:

For Sale: baby shoes, never worn.

I believe this qualifies. Not of any "flash" style...but it could be. I really like the flow to this story. He may be a friend but he's good and doesn't want to dwell on it. If the style of the story does designate a need for some film; then so be it. I've been trying to convince Fritz that we need to enjoy our abilities.

All in all I have to submit this mind to the fray, I hope he appreciates it.
At least read the story. http://www.writingforums.com/fantasy...tml?highlight=

So, in retrospect; I submit Fritz, the only one, that I know, who has the right idea.

    All the best,
    Raziel
