    Hey there

How to start? Well, I'm Clay. I've just finished high school, and am heading off to college in the Fall. I plan to double major in English/Philosophy, with the goal of eventually making a living as a writer.

I'm not quite sure if I'm any good at writing--probably because I never let anyone see my work. Hopefully you guys can help me out in that area. I'll put a short story up here soon.

My favorites writers include: Hermann Hesse, J.D. Salinger, Franz Kafka, Albert Camus, and Aldous Huxley. I'm forgetting some, I'm sure.

Cool, welcome. I hate Kafka and don't get the big deal about Salinger. But welcome none-the-less.

Welcome to the forums, Clay. Glad to have you!
Remember why you like to read, and inundate your writing with your love of story. No great writer ever found reading a chore.

    Hello! Welcome to WF.
Typos are very important to all written form. It gives the reader something to look for so they aren't distracted by the total lack of content in your writing.

*Cringe* I suppose I can understand how a person might not like Kafka, but not Salinger. Admittedly, his short stories are better than his novels. Catcher In The Rye is good, but shorts like A Perfect Day for Bananafish, Uncle Wiggily in Connecticut, and Teddy are just plain brilliant.
