    Hello

Hello, I'm Kathy. I'm soon to be divorced after 27 years of not so wedded bliss. I'm a mother of 4 (two girls/two boys) and the grandmother of 2 boys. I'm a born and raised Nova Scotian. Have had some travel adventures over the past few years (Dominican Republic, England (3 times) and Cuba. Reading and writing have always played a big part in my life, though I admit, more reading than writing. I've spent a few dollars on self help books (there are 16 of them lined up on my desk), CD's full of hints and/or 'courses', computer software guaranteed to make my life easier, and online courses full of promise to turn me into a published author Now all I really need is the motivation to get these thoughts out of what's left of my brain and into print. I definately have the time to write. I think I have a pretty good command of the english language. I love the written word. And yet, I sit looking at my blank screen.
That's why I'm here. I figure, if the only way I'm going to actually 'write' is via message boards, I may just as well get started. And who knows, maybe I'll find a like minded pal or two.
    Cheers for now
    Kathy

Hello, Kathy, and let me be the first to welcome you to Writing Forums. Pop into the lounge, see what the topic of the day is, and start posting. The sooner you make new friends, the better. This is a very amicable community, so I don't think you should have difficulty fitting in.

PS: Sorry to hear about your divorce.

    Sam.

Welcome Kathy, the way I did it was one word at a time. Pretty soon you'll have a sentence, then a paragraph, then a page. (Smile) Have fun!

Hello to you, Kathy, and welcome to the forum. Just do some reading here, and perhaps you'll find the inspiration to write out ideas of your own.

Hi Kathy, and welcome. A few days here and the stories will start pouring out of you. That's what I keep telling myself, anyways. Glad to have you aboard.
Remember why you like to read, and inundate your writing with your love of story. No great writer ever found reading a chore.

Hello to you, Kathy...and welcome to the forums...

I was born in Key West, Florida and traveled to Cuba as a young teenager! When were you you in Cuba? How did you like it?

I, too, am sorry to hear about your divorce but you may be better off and just don't realize it yet...Hope things look brighter for you soon.

    Thank You

Thanks for all the replies Some of you are posting wizards by the number counts I've been reading thru several of the threads in these forums, lots and lots of reading. I'm sure I'll catch on eventually, just takes a bit of getting used to.

John, Cuba was lovely! My sister and I went last month, only a week at one of those all inclusive resorts so I didn't get an honest feel for the country. I did get to walk along the coast a couple of times (we were in Holguin), took a horse and buggy ride thru a fishing village and the town of Holguin, and of course enjoy some spectacular sunsets.

Welcome Kathy. Start small, writing paragraphs, describing scenes, putting thoughts to paper. Don't try and write a novel. Just get in the habit of writing. Once that is developed, then you can tackle the next step.
