new - and offering a service
Hi, I'm new - and also a technophobe, so instead of posting as a new thread, I;ve already posted as a reply.....apologies to anyone reading this twice.
I am a jobbing journalist - I write for mostly women's mags, and health and lifestyle sections of the daily papers, on health, relationships, real life stories, parenting .....and anything else I or an editor can think of. I'm also the frustrated author of 2 half finished novels, the first three chapters of both of which have been rejected by agents several times. My website is
I'm enjoying reading people's experiences of writing on this forum, and also wanted to shout about my latest business venture - a writer's retreat. Do ask if you'd like more information on this. I can't post a link as I'm new, but if you send me your email, I can send you info.
Happy writing
Deborah

I think you'll find resistance to what some might perceive as trolling for emails. In fact, I beleive it's against the policies of this forum.
Nothing stops you from putting a link in your profile. Or posting a little and acting like part of the crowd before soliciting business. Or sending the information using the personal messenger feature of the site.
Or post the information in a thread.
Or post the URL here without making it a link....
I'll be interested in hearing more about what you're doing.

There is advice against giving out personal info, including emails, on the rules page. It isn't a hard and fast rule but rather a warning.
I wasn't aware that newbies were not allowed to post links? Have you tried the 'insert link' button? Also, once you do want to post this link to your website it goes in the 'Writer's Resources' forum and/or your sig line, please.

America
...and this is an American group - I've just realised. And I'm in the UK. So my feeble attempt at soliciting business, which I was swiftly rebuked for, is a non starter anyway. that's quite funny.....perhaps I'll stick around anyway....

Sorry you see my advice as a rebuke.
But here's more. Give information, not a blind email.
Think of it this way... why would I want to send you my email when I have seen absolutely nothing about you?

deborah, if you spend some time here you'll see that there are a LOT of writers from the UK and elsewhere, I would hardly consider us an 'American group'.
Explaining how the site works isn't a rebuke.

This is a "worldwide" group, Deborah. I'm from Ireland. There are others from Australia, Mexico, Brazil... you name it, they're here.
Anyway, welcome.
Sam.
