Once upon a time...

Once upon a time, there was a young girl. Her name was Lola, she was a showgirl. But she wasn't me. My name is Natalie Burwell and I'm new here. I have been writing (as a career) for three years, though I have yet to publish my first book. I am currently working on short stories with my characters to send to Literary Journals so that we can build a foundation before we go to publish our first novel.

I am currently researching the publishing world so that I can know everything possible before submitting my manuscript to an agent. I was going to try to go blindly and quickly into the world of publishing, but I am so glad that I didn't because there is so much to learn. Now, I am taking my time and giving my characters and my stories the quality time and attention they deserve while we read every book and article we can get our hands on.

I love writing. I feel good while I am doing it and bad when I'm not. I live with my characters and rarely suffer from writer's block because we write together. I write mainly in the genre of Science Fiction/Fantasy, though am able to put my stories into any genre that is right for the plot.

I am looking forward to being here and hope to learn a lot.

~Natalie

new arrival

Hello,
I'm a jobbing journalist - I write for women's mags, daily papers etc, on everything and anything - health, real lives, parenting.....and am also the author of 2 half finished novels - (both of which have had the first three chapters rejected several times...)
I'm interested in hearing everyone else's experience of writing - and also want to shout about the latest string to my bow -a writers retreat. Please email me if you'd like more details.
Happy writing
Deborah
