    First Post, First Published Book

This is my very first post to this site and I'm very excited to be here, taking an active part on Writers Forum.

I'm looking forward to sharing in all of the awesome discussions.

On February 22, 2008 my Very First Book "GLIMPSES UNSPOKEN" was released by LifeVest Publishing, Inc.

It is amazing to finally see my words in book form and available for the world to enjoy.

What seems to be a vanity plug for a vanity publisher, folks. She did not have her book "published."

    Yes, it's a self-published book . . .

Jon1jt . . . and other interested members, I did get my book done through a self-publishing company. They have provided an avenue to get my words into print. I'm still looking into the opportunities of finally being published through the traditional methods. However, my current book sales are coming along great. I'm on numerous bookstore and retail online sites. I'm looking forward to the day when my book will be available on the shelves of these fine establishments. Until then, I'll continue enjoying my present success and accomplishments.

    Welcome to the forum, Giftedswan.

Regarding your novel, unfortunately in the eyes of anyone who matters, being self-published does not make you a "published author". Anyone can self-publish. It isn't hard. There are numerous companies out there who offer that service. You're novels are selling good? Well, congrats on that, but still, your novel isn't being marketed right this way.

I wish you the best of luck with it, though.

Thanks, for the additional warm welcomes . . . and also being reminded about how some people feel about those who have taken the self-publishing route. I've been fully aware of this opinion for quite some time. Maybe one day soon "we" will graduate to the status of being published authors in the eyes of all.

I was just thinking about how some people are gifted at things, while others may have to take years of lessons. Some can really play music expertly by ear and can't read notes and vice versa, but yet they are all called musicians.

There are some people who can really draw and paint with fine details and have never been to art school. Then there are those who have taking classes that can't even come close to the gifted one's talents, but they are all called artists.

I didn't write a novel, but an inspirational book. I'm glad I didn't wait until I could afford to take music lessons, because then I would have missed out on finding out that I'm gifted at playing music, as well as other things. As of this date, I can skillfully play fifteen instruments . . . but I guess, I'm not a musician. AGAIN, thanks, for the warm welcome!!
