    Hello everyone!

    I deeply love to write, and am very glad to be here. I found this forum a while ago, but decided to join just yesterday, after looking through the forum and reading some of the writing. I must say, too, that I am quite impressed at the talent of so many of the members here!

    I am a fan of Stephen King, and I enjoy writing horror. I also write some comedy and science fiction, among a variety of other things. I love the thrills that I get from reading a good horror story, though, so it's definitely my favorite genre. I'm a developing writer, so I hope that all of you will bear with me and help me to improve. I think I have a fair idea between what's good writing and what's bad, but certainly not when it comes to my own writing - that's where I get stuck. So be brutally honest!

    I'm looking forward to getting to know the community...hope I'm welcome!

    (Lol. And I just noticed how many times I used the word "I." So now, let's hear a little bit about you!)

    I'll just post this here since I don't have time to greet each individual but I want it to seem to everyone that I'm friendly:

    sub Greeting Handles: newmember.join
    dim slightdifference() as string = {"nice to meet you", "good to see you here"}
    me.gilles.post.text = "Welcome " & newmember.name & " it is " & slightdifference(int(2 * rnd() + 1)) & ". Hope you like it here."

    Hello, and welcome to the forum, Rink! There are, as you mentioned, a lot of talented members here who will gladly help you out.

    As for me - not much of a King fan, although I have read many of his books, and those of his great rival, Koontz. Mostly, I'm a Tom Clancy fan. My other favourite authors include: Jeffrey Deaver, Michael Connelly, Vince Flynn, John J. Nance, and Jack Higgins.

    Hope you enjoy your stay!

    Thank you, Gilles, for that laugh! Haha...yes, there should most definitely be a code for new member welcomes. I know how old that gets after awhile...

    Thanks to you, too, Sam! I have already read and enjoyed some of your work (Hostile Intent). Have never read anything by Dean Koontz, but somebody I plan on getting to it.

    Remember why you like to read, and inundate your writing with your love of story. No great writer ever found reading a chore.
