Well, here goes ...
Hi
I am at an interesting stage of my life. I have time and enough money, not rich, enough. So I have used that time in the last few years to complete a law degree, write a novel (160,000 words), finish a children’s story that had been sitting in my desk for two years (about 28,000 words), start to write articles for a couple of forums that are being published (the articles that is). I found an agent who was prepared to give me a go, and she found a publisher who read the book and likened it to ‘Far Pavilions’ and then asked me to re-write it. I said no, and that was that. I lived in China for about a year and got married to an exceptional Chinese lady, Xiaosui; mother, business women, qualified teacher, degree, historian and writer. Now that is luck. She now lives with me in Australia and we are developing her web presence, Kaixin (Happy Heart).
Her personal story includes being born in 1966 and growing up during the Cultural Revolution. Her family were branded as counter-revolutionaries and they suffered accordingly. Her father was a teacher of Chinese and Chinese History and a very wise man. Her stories about him and how he taught his family to face the life are inspiring. We are publishing her stories on her website.
I am going to use my newfound www knowledge to publish the books in the way I want ( it is a bit of a steep learning curve, I did not own a computer until 2000, when I started the law degree and I still cannot use a mobile).
I am interested to see what other writers are doing, to contribute and to seek advice.
Graeme
