New to the forum....
I’ve been looking for a forum for quite some time. It seems they die out quickly. I’m glad I finally ran across this one. The post count of some of the members makes me happy.
I’m in my early 30's and have been writing for the better part of 20-years. The sad part, I’ve never done anything with it. I got a little encouragement in HS to do some writing but I grew up in a small country Oklahoma town so I didn’t give the sources much merit. In college I had a professor take me aside from my College Writing Course and tell me I needed to be a writer. Still to date I have to say I haven’t done much with it other than the odd news paper article.
I’m really trying to encourage myself to write but I have some self doubt (as many artist do). I’m glad I found this forum. I have high hopes that it will help me to find my true level and whether I have a worthy ability to pursue this or whether I’m better suited for local news paper columns!
I’m very much looking forward to this!
Btw, you can all call me Jeramie.

Hello to you Jeramie!
Welcome to this forum...I encourage you to write in whatever genre you desire and send it in for publication! This process, and repeat it as often as necessary until you get an acceptance, is the only way to finally bust through your self doubt.
Make a game out of it, make it fun!...what is the worst that can happen? A rejection? Hell, Hemmingway had rejections. A rejection doesn't mean your stuff is necessarily bad, it just could be the publisher or agent isn't interested in your topic at that time. That's why you need to research your agent/editor/publishing house as thoroughly as possible...But, if you still get a turn down, send it to another source that might be interested...
I hope this cheap advice will at least get you moved off the dreaming stage and into the action game! Enjoy, John
