Pleased to be here

Hello,

I'm happy to have found this forum. For the last few weeks I have been studying websites and books to get a feel of how to make my dreams a reality. I spent a good 4 hours just browsing through different threads and learning about different peoples beliefs in what works and what does not.

I have to say, there are many "guides" out there and not many agree with the other. I have invested in a few that were recommended, like Writing Fiction: a guide to narrative prose and On Writing Horror.

I guess you can guess by the last paragraph that I am looking to get into the horror writing business/hobby. I have started writing with a couple of short stories one is relatively done and the other requires some more time. Of course both on their first edit.

Enough of me, I just want to say I am looking forward to getting to know you all.

Dave

Welcome,

I also picked up a writing book recently, it is something I never do because I believe in individual style. I bought a book which is specific to writing fantasy, which is what I love to do and I found that it was the only one on the shelf that was not trying to give me an outline, an unembellished plot. I picked it because it had some great tips, and things to keep in mind to make the writing easier for the author while extremely entertaining for the reader. Although, as far as horror goes, I can't help ya.

Anyways, enjoy the forum. I hope you find everything you need.
