ello folks

Hello everyone; I'm Deb, or Leigh, or D. (Leigh's my middle name ;D)

I'm 20, live in Wisconsin, go to college (pre-med/psych/english major. Odd combo, yes, but I love English and psych and want to be doctor. So I figured, hey, why not all three? It'll take forever, but I'm okay with that. ), and I work at a museum.

I mainly write short stories, but I started a novel like six years ago. Started. Never finished. That novel is a fantasy story, but the short stories I write are realistic fiction, and I suppose they could be thrown into the "literary fiction" genre these days. They just focus on life as it actually happens, rather than dramatic conflicts and climactic happy endings. I don't know if I manage to it well, but I try to concentrate more on the emotions and little things people tend to do.
It's hard to explain, hah.

I confess, I joined because I need feedback on my writing, but after looking around, I think I'll probably be very active here.

I'm in my college's writers' club as treasurer (I don't do much; we have no money ), and I'm an editor of the Fox Cry Review and the campus literary magazine, Cyclones Muse. Joining all of these has gotten me writing again, but I don't have many writerly friends to read over my stuff.

That was long-winded. In any case, I look forward to reading everyone else's stuff and meeting some new people

-Leigh
